Summary: Sergeant Domitan is now Captain Domitan
Captain Flyndan Whiteford was getting tired. After meeting his soon to be wife Lycoris he had a talk with the Commander of the Kings Own about retiring. Now all he needed to do was pick his replacement; and with four different squads under him the decision was difficult. Should he go with the young man who had an instinct for command (and his gut told him to choose), one of his two senior officers who had been with the own countless years, or his newest sergeant (which wasn't an option to be honest.) Finally by the end of the night the Captain had made his decision, all that was left to do was take it to Raoul in the morning.
That next morning the Knight Commander was sitting in his office when Flyn knocked on his door then entered. Sitting across from him, his former Captain gave him his choice of replacement. Later that day Lord Raoul called Sergeant Domitan to his office. Admittedly Raoul toyed with him at first; all serious and trying to be angry, but Dom knew him to well by now unfortunately. After a candle mark the men were done talking; they had gone over expectations, requirements, privileges and pay.
Leaving the meeting Dom just had with Raoul he felt a bit dazed. Flyn was retiring and had chosen him as his replacement. Walking down the hallway Dom was thinking of who he wanted to tell first; of course he was going to write to his parents, his uncle and the Meathead should be told as well, but he wanted to tell Kel. They were close, he should tell her, besides she would be happy for him. Making his way to her room he knocked on her door, all the while of thinking what to say. However, when Kel appeared in front of him all coherent thought rushed from his mind and the words that came out of his mouth were "Mithros Kel, Guess what? I've been promoted!" he was sure at that point he sounded like a squealing court lady. But somehow she had understood his yelling because a smile appeared on her face a second later. "Congratulations! Dom, I'm so proud of you" And moved to give him a hug, retuning her embrace and then pulling back Dom looked at her; then right there in her doorway, Dom kissed her. Right there, if anyone had been walking by they would've seen but he didn't care.
