Twelve years have passed since Stefan and Damon had to leave Mystic Falls because of Katherine. Damon has been trying to track her down to kill her, but her spy's are always one step ahead of him. Stefan has been wandering around, trying to get over Elena. But now he went back to check on her. This is the letter he wrote to Damon.

Damon,

I went back to Mystic Falls. I didn't let on that I was there, of course. I just watched from afar. Elena is thirty now, but doesn't look a day older than when we last saw her. She is married to an artist. It makes sense, her being a novelist, they go hand in hand. She published a book on what happened when we were there. She changed the names, luckily, because if other vampires read what had happened, we would be in a world of trouble.

She has six year-old twin daughters. Miranda and Jenna, after her mother and aunt. They remind me of Elena in every way. Their looks, the way they move and speak, their general demeanor. Jenna is quite the popular little girl. Other kids follow her around, fight for her attention, and mimics her every move. She will never be without good friends. Miranda, on the other hand, is a very special girl. She is always by herself, just staring into space. She never seems to want the company others, or to play on the playground equipment like normal kids. She is strangely aware of things going on around her, and is very old for her age. Just some of the things she says...and nothing surprises her, as if she knows everything that's going to happen before they happen!

I'm not going back again. I'm not even going to let on that I was there. I'm going to move on, and you should, too. Forget Katherine. It's time to forget the past, Damon.

Your Brother,

Stefan
