Buffy's eyes rose to follow the jet that was taking off and heading towards
England. She closed her eyes and let out a sigh. She felt a hand on her
shoulder, and by the feel of it, it was Xander's.
"Buff," she said in a reassuring tone, "She'll be fine."
"I wasn't saying she wouldn't be, Xander," Buffy said in a slightly mournful tone. She turned to face him and lowered her little green orbs.
Xander gave her a slight smile.
"I know what you think, Buffy," Xander said, his tone softening.
"I know."
There was a slight silence.
"When is the burial?" asked Buffy.
"Tomorrow," Xander said. His voice was slightly sadder now. Buffy could tell he was getting a little choked up.
All three of them were upset by the untimely death of Tara McClay. They stood there for a second.
Dawn finally cut in, tears in her eyes, "I-I cant believe she's actually gone. Tara's dead...and Willow can't even be at the funeral."
"Dawnie, you know she'd lose it again," Xander said, turning to the younger sister of The Slayer.
"Y-yeah," Dawn stammered, looking as if she would collapse.
Buffy took her sister into her arms.
"I'm so sorry," Buffy said, "Two of your friends left you in a span of 4 days. I'm so sorry."
"Willow isn't gone forever," Dawn said, giving into The Slayer.
"I know, Dawnie," said Buffy.
There was another silence.
"I miss her," Dawn blurted, pulling away from Buffy. She looked down to the gray floor.
Xander asked, "Which one?" He raised a brow and crossed his arms over his chest.
Dawn's blue eyes were glassy and red on the outsides. She let out a breath and sniffled slightly.
"Both of them," She gulped.
The entire scoobie found themselves admiring the marble-looking floor of the airport as they just stood there, not knowing what to do next.
