Giving Pieces

Sasuke came back from Sound when they were sixteen. Naruto was dragging him by his ears and he had chakra drainers around his wrists and ankles. Naruto shoved Sasuke at Sakura saying something along the lines of, "Whatever punishment that Kami-sama had for him, Sakura's was ten times worse." Surprisingly, when Sasuke fell at Sakura's feet from being pushed, he pleaded with her to forgive him and take him back and to let him show her how he had changed.

She forgot her wrath, hugged him, and agreed happily, saying how, "Everyone deserves a second chance. Even you Sasuke-kun."

Sasuke was an image of perfection until about a month later when his temper got the best of him and he smacked Sakura during an argument. She gasped as blood trickled from her cheek and he stormed out of the house. Two hours later, Sasuke showed up and begged Sakura to forgive for being such a dobe and that he swore it wouldn't happen again. Sakura looked at him silently for a minute, tipped her head, then grinned. "Okay, Sasuke-kun, I can never stay mad at you for long."

Again, Sasuke behaved like an angel. Or so Sakura thought. She found him at Ichiraku's one day, making out with some villager with light blue hair. Sakura burst into tears and ran into the Yamanaka's Flower Shop. There she found Ino. " Ino-pig," she sobbed, "Sasuke cheated on me with some girl. I saw them kissing at Ichiraku's." "Forehead-girl," Ino said, "You should know better. When will you learn that boys don't change?"

Sasuke saw her, ran to the shop, noticed Sakura's tears and dropped to one knee. He proceeded to ask that Sakura accept his apology, that the girl meant nothing to him, that he only loved her, that he would do anything to show her the truth. Sakura looked into his pleading eyes and replied with a teary smile, "Sasuke-kun. Of course."

They left the shop with Ino shaking her head. "When will Billboard Brow ever get it through her thick head that there's only so much a girl can forgive?"

A year passed with many events like this. Sasuke screwed up, apologized, and Sakura forgave him. Ino gave her pitying looks when they saw each other and Sakura was looking more haggard every day. Then one day, Sakura said, "No."

"Excuse me?" Sasuke said, sounding angry, "What did you say?"

"I said no, Sasuke. I have put up with your excuses for too long. How many hits am I supposed to take for you? How many times can I turn around and say it's okay? What do you expect me to do Sasuke?! I can only excuse so much! Every time you apologized, I forgave you and with forgiving you, gave a piece of myself. I have no more pieces to give!" Sakura was crying and screaming at her teenage heartthrob in the middle of Konoha and she didn't care. "Sasuke," she said after calming down a bit, "I am sick of playing games. I have no more pieces for you to get. You win." She walked away, leaving a stunned audience and Sasuke in awe. Who had known Sakura would leave him?

Ino, who had managed to see the entire scene, smiled to herself. "Way to go, Forehead," she murmured to herself, "It seems that you have learned a thing or two. You may have lost Sasuke but you've won in a different way. You'll see."

And eventually, Sakura did.

A/N: It's so weird. I adore Sasu/Saku fluff and all I could think to write was this little fic of Sasuke being an idiot over and over again and Sakura finally realizing that he wouldn't change. This is for my friend, Tiffy. I hope she gets the hint.
