the summer was dull, hot and over all boring none of his friends were telling him anything and it was beginning to get to him, which is probably why when a strange owl he had never seen before flew through the open window and dropped a parcel in his lap before swooping around and leaving the same way it came, he opened the package without even checking for malevolent spells. the brown paper fell away from what appeared to be a feather, confused he reached into the paper and picked up the feather but before he could even ponder the meaning of the gold and red feather a swirling dizzy feeling came over him and blackness seeped into the edges of his vision until he was essential blind.

blinking his eyes open he saw... blue. blinking again he identified the blue as the sky turning his head he could see grass and in the distance what looked like Hogwarts, frowning he pondered if the feather had been a portkey. sitting up and looking around he realized he was definitely at Hogwarts so the feather must have been a portkey, blinking he saw he really wasn't that far from the black lakes shores. hearing foot steps he yanked his invisibility cloak out of his pocket and tugged it over himself moments later what looked like himself rounded the corner. maybe the feather had sent him back in time, racking his brain he tried to remember when he had run down to the black lake and ...fed the giant squid?! that was what the boy was doing he threw food into the lake and in exchange the squid preformed tricks, this was not a familiar memory. just then more footsteps sounded on the packed dirt path, and Remus rounded the corner coming into sight only he wasn't quite how harry remembered. this Remus seemed much younger, much, much, much younger in fact he looked his age. a faint suspicion tugged at his mind, wanting to prove or dispel the theory he crept closer to try and hear their conversation.

"James what have i told you about feeding the squid?"

the other boy turned and harry could now make out the bright hazel eyes behind the glasses "uh not to, but Remus its so fun and looked i taught him tricks, inst that cool"

Remus rolled his eyes "yeah very cool until it decides you would make a better snack now come on we have to find Sirius and peter before Sirius convinces peter to do something stupid"

"ah alright Remus, lead the way"

as the boys left harry stared after them completely dumbfounded wondering what the hell just happened.
