Disclaimer: I don't own Left 4 Dead

Thought of this while watching Clannad.

"Daddy."

The voice was quiet, almost like it was far away as it echoed to Nick who was standing in the hallway, his green eyes seemed to light up at the sound of his daughters voice as she called him again.

This time it was louder, echoing towards him again while the walls seemed to get closer to him, a sudden fear of the closeness washing over him as he quickly walked out of the hallway to find the living room a mess.

Glass broken and furniture overturned in a hasty fashion, fog seemed to flood through the house's broken windows and kicked in door that was hanging loosely on its henges.

"Kaitlin?" He called loudly, hearing her call him again from outside the front door; stepping into the doorway he called out to Rochelle but received no answer.

His heart seemed to skip a beat as he cautiously walked out into the mist to find CEDA solders lined up, their guns held firmly in their gloved hands as they turned around.

Facing him as he caught sight of Kaitlin standing in front of them, tears in her eyes as they fired their guns. Nick's horrific screams barely audible over the gunfire as Kaitlin fell to the ground.

The soliders repositioning their guns so they rested on their shoulders as Nick ran to the six year old and held her in his arms.

Her blood covering him as he pressed his face into her small, bloodied chest crying harder than he ever had in his life.

He felt her small body go limp in his arms as he pulled away and shook her lightly, the blood covering his face mixing with his tears as he screamed and hugged her close to him.

"NO!"

Rochelle felt the person on the other side of the bed sit up quickly, clearly shaking as she groggily sat up rubbing her eyes.

Turning on the small light beside her side of the bed and looking to the other side to see Nick holding his hands to his face, his bare back soft under her fingertips as she touched him.

He jumped before looking at her, his face clearly pained and heartbroken.

Unable to hide her concern and shock when she saw her husbands wet face and big, tear filled eyes; she scooted closer to him.

"Nick," she said gently holding him close to her and stroking his hair; watching as he tried to hide his tear streaked face.

"Honey, what's wrong?"

He only looked at her, unable to form any kind of words he broke away from her embrace, kissing her cheek before slowly leaving their bedroom without a word.

Rochelle heard his soft footsteps enter Kaitlin's room as she hesitantly laid back down and fell asleep.

Nick stood in the doorway, staring at the form of his sleeping daughter, her favorite tiger that still remained nameless held close to her chest; taking notice of her small shivers.

He swallowed, wiping his hand over his face until the tears were mostly gone and his heart seemed to slow down.

'She's okay, she's right there.' He thought trying to calm himself down, still finding himself walking quietly to her bed.

Covering her with the fallen blankets, he kissed her forehead and sat down on the floor. Letting his arm lie on her mattress as he rested his head on top of it and stared at her, biting his lip and touching her small face again.

Determined to keep her safe by any means necessary as he remembered her blood soaking into his clothes as the light faded from her beautiful eyes.

The thought of their little angel dying made Nick want to throw up as he let some more tears fall down his face, the tiny nightlight hitting him as he managed to calm himself down.

"I love you Kaitlin."

He whispered before falling asleep beside her bed, not able to hear the quiet response as a tiny hand touched his arm.

"I love you too."

I hope you all liked it. Made me really sad writing it, but yea for a happy ending!
