"Anzu, I don't understand. Thought Miho and I were great together." Atem said as Anzu gave him a cup of tea.
Taking a seat across from her best friend, she said. "Love is complicated. Don't worry about it, you two weren't meant to be."
"Maybe you are right." He sighed.
Atem was suffering from another breakup. He was going out with a girl named Miho, but she broke it off claiming that he spent too much time with his work and less with her. Anzu knew she should feel bad for him, but she didn't. She hated Miho and the female wasn't so fond of her either. She didn't like the fact that Anzu and her boyfriend were best friends. It didn't help the fact that they also shared an apartment.
The brunette had a one-sided love for Atem ever since high school, but she didn't have the guts to tell him. She was afraid of been rejected by the male and they wouldn't be friends anymore.
"I think you are better off without her," said the brunette.
"Why do you say that?"
"Miho didn't appreciate you or your passion for music and history. She was like all those other girls that you have dated."
"I think you are right, Zu, Zu. She never did appreciate me or my music and work. She was always yelling at me to take her out to expensive places." Atem mentioned as he finished off his cup. Tossing it to a bin behind him the tri colour hair male put on his coat, ready to leave.
Anzu did the same and said. "Instead of going out with the people like Miho, you should try someone that is more down to earth and likes you just the way you are."
"Yeah."
Anzu smiled at this since no one could have cared about Atem more than her. She loved him just the way he was. The brunette memorized the lyrics to his songs. She would even stay up all night with him to help Atem out with his work at the museum.
They were walking on the streets now and embraced in the summer heat.
"Anzu, are you ready to go home?" Atem asked, glancing over at her.
"Sure. I want to seat in front of my fan and watch TV." She answered. Looking at the male she let out a soft sight.
It sucked loving someone and seeing that person go out with others girls. Anzu tried to move on and go out with other guys but Atem was her ideal guy.
Atem heard her and asked. "What's wrong, Anzu?"
She moved her head, signalling nothing was wrong. Atem felt like she was lying but let it go. 'When she is ready, she will tell me.'
They finally reached the apartment and Anzu said, "How about you go ahead in and I will get the mail."
Atem agreed. As the brunette beauty collected the mail she saw on two envelopes:
'YOU AREINVITED TO DOMINO HIGH'S 5TH HIGH SCHOOL REUNION!'
Entering the living room, Anzu saw Atem sitting on the couch with the fan turned to him. Taking a seat next to him, she said while handing him his envelope. "Atem Mutou, you are invited to Domino High's fifth High School Reunion!"
Taking it, he said. "I can't believe it's been five years since we left high school. Didn't think at the age twenty-two I would be single, and living with my best friend."
"That was very funny, Atem." Anzu said sarcastically. "Anyway the reunion will be held at that nice restaurant they built uptown. I heard the food up there is to die for."
"We will find out at the reunion." Atem stated. "How about I get the high school yearbook? We can refresh our memory on some old classmates."
"Sure. I haven't seen anyone from high school apart from you." She pointed out.
Atem made his way into his bedroom and took a few minutes to find the yearbook.
Coming out of the room he had a large brown hardcover book. As he sat down on the couch the two spent the rest of the day going through the book.
