It wasn't a surprise. He would've died anyway, time wouldn't do any difference. She knew it deep inside her heart when she didn't receive any notification that he was still alive. It was absolutely a fact, considering possibilities and math, and now, it was too late to believe in miracles.
Sitting in the bed, she stared at the photo, that familiar piece of paper that had her heart printed, and her life represented. Just as easy as that, everything was right there, in the image of her soul next to its owner, and It would be forever that way, no matter what.
Of course she had lover other men, but never the same way. It was like if he just really stole her consciousness and ran away.
Lal felt her body reactions without any control of them. Her heart could've had jumped out of her chest in any minute, its beatings were just as intense as to feel her muscle hitting against the wall, almost hurting at every rhythmical beat. Her body trembled uncontrolled, feeling absolutely weakened… maybe it was the cold room what was causing those muscular contractions, but somehow, she knew it couldn't be the cause because she was hot, so damn hot that she felt like boiling, though her extremities were absolutely cold. Perhaps she thought she would not cry, after all, she had cried lots of times before. Not knowing not well when or from where, a single tear rolled her face, without warning. She thought it was a signal to surrender to weeping, so she kept trying but no response was received. The pain was maybe so intense that not even tears could be produced. That was the tear that would seal her fate, her heart forever. The fluid that would heal the wound forever, leaving a scar writing his name in every aspect of her life.
It was just so strange, It didn't hurt as it was supposed to do. It was a trap, looking at the photo, chained to that stupid look in his eyes that she loved so much… she couldn't get away, neither wanted to, though it was an intense pain, muffled somehow.
Colonello was dead… she already knew it. Lal just didn't understand why an official new already known was causing her that overreaction. Maybe her body just really belonged to him and now was just living its own mourning for the lost. Perhaps her heart was only his and in any minute it would end up its beating, that's why it was so difficult to survive even when she was just staying sitting. Maybe her mind was just thinking of him every time, and now that there wasn't nothing to think about, she would lose it, and be a zombie forever.
Whatever the reason, she tried not to understand and just stayed absorbed for the rest of her life until now, who knows if she will ever live again…
