Amy cradled john as he cried trying to get him to stop. Anything to get him to stop crying. She tried feeding him, burping him, looked to see if he was wet. Nothing, this baby was crying for no apparent reason. She heard the door bell ring, and set john in his crib, then went to get the door.
When she walked downstairs she saw her mother, her pregnant- she still couldn't believe this- sleeping on the couch. She sighed and walked to the front door. It was Ricky.
"Oh, hey Ricky, Johns up stairs crying, so you better hurry up and get up there if you want him to stop crying." She said.
"Ok, I will, how are you?" he asked hesitantly.
"I'm fine, still heart broken, but fine." She said back. He nodded and walked up the stairs, she followed close behind, not wanting to show her tears that were beginning to fall.
They entered the room, john still fussing. As soon as Ricky picked him up he stopped crying.
"UGH!" Amy whined. Ricky looked up from John and smiled.
"What?" He asked already knowing the answer.
"Every time you pick him up-"He cut her off
"He stops crying.' He finished her sentence, smirking. She looked up and smiled at him laughing at his impression of her. "You say it every time Amy." He said. She stopped laughing and frowned.
'Well, it's true.' She replied back.
'Yes, because when you're around john, you have to relax, and let him know that you love him. Don't push your world onto his. Let your stress go and wait to bring it back until you're not with him, or he's asleep. Put him in a carefree environment, and he won't stress, just like you do." He explained to her, softly and hesitantly.
"How do you know so much about babies?" She asked whispering.
He replied back easier this time. "Well, I'm a father; I ought to know about babies.' He chuckled. Then turned serious. "but Amy, seriously, when your around John, don't stress about your break up with Ben, that's not fair to him or you, its over, as much as you don't like how that sounds, Ben cheated, and I'm not perfect, but he did cheat, and why cry over someone, who wouldn't care enough for you, to think twice about cheating?"
"Ricky. . . ." Amy stopped.
"I know, I cheated before too. It was a mistake, but I don't love grace, I thought I did, but I don't. And I don't blame grace for leaving me either." He sighed.
"you really are changed aren't you?" She whispered back. All he could do, was nod.
