Author's note: I like to think this happened in the summer between OotP and HBP. In a way, it's what made Harry start seeing Ginny in a new light. Also, my first language isn't English, so I apologise for any errors. And I think I'm not exactly accurate with stuff here. Feel free to review! (Not edited.)

Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter.

The night is cold, and Harry Potter is awake, restless, too numb to succumb to sleep. It's one of the summer nights when he stupidly thinks of Sirius, and he's left with a hollow feeling in his chest that makes it impossible for him to allow sleep to wash over him.

He leans on the windowsill of Ron's room, his ginger friend snoring away on his bed. The full moon glitters in the sky, and Harry dimly wonders if Remus is doing all right. He then thinks of Sirius, who was Remus' friend, who'd suggested becoming Animagi to help a friend, who'd been nothing but kind to people he loves and often believed in standing up for what was right. That was a mistake, agreed upon by the ever widening hole in his stomach.

Harry then realises it isn't just the moon and stars casting light on this dreary night, seeing an orange flame flickering weakly by the pond not so far away from the Burrow. The dark makes it hard to see, but he can make out a figure with long, wavy hair dancing by the pond.

The moves are graceful, practicing a jump ans twirling around when the figure pauses, easing themselves into a pose, one foot off the ground and the other holding up their entire weight on the ball of their foot.

Harry realises this is Ginny, a diffrent side of Ginny he hasn't ever seen. Watching her, he thinks of the Ginny he's seen grow up over the years.

In his second year, (Ginny's first,) he remembers the squeaky little girl with her red hair in pigtails, a scared little thing with loud, and slightly mean, older brothers who loved to tease and cause trouble. Harry feels a drop of sadness in his stomach when he remembers the way Ginny opened her eyes in the Chamber of Secrets, the brown tinged with terror and he realises Ginny was never the same after that.

He remembers in his third year, Ginny was often seen hanging around Colin, who annoyed Harry and he feels guilty that Ginny was the one to make Colin feel more accepted into the magic world, not him, especially after he was taken in by the Weasleys.

He remembers more of her in his fourth year, however. She starts to be more open about her Quidditch passion, her poise and balance as perfect as her dance as she scoops up the Quaffle and tosses it cleanly in the hoop, her movements as fluid as water shaping rocks and bursting out of dams. He's seen her practice by her lonesome in the darkness of the Quidditch field, as nimble as himself on any broom, hair tied up in a ponytail, eyes blazing with determination.

He remembers her in the D.A., she was always almost the first one to perfectly master a spell. Her Stunners were powerful, and her Bat-Bogey Hex had earned a reputation among Slytherins when they saw Malfoy's new look, given to him by Ginny. She was also there at the Ministry, not wanting to back down from a challenge, seeking a chance to payback Voldemort for what he's done to her.

Harry realises perfectly he only looks at Ginny Weasley, who is powerful in her own right and yet he can never see who she really is. There's many sides to her, walls that started building when Tom Riddle took her will. He knows they are the only two people alive right now who can say for sure what it's like to have Voldemort in their mind, what he can do to you, and Harry feels more connected to Ginny now more than ever.

Ginny isn't ever given enough credit for that.

Harry Potter, in that moment when he discovers yet another side of Ginny Weasley, can't help but fall into the fierceness of her entire being.
