Iron Man
Difficult Lover
Summary: When Tony asks Pepper a question it causes conflict between them while making them realize just how unique their relationship really is.
Sitting outside on the patio under an umbrella Pepper Potts eyes were glued to her laptop as she typed away like crazy. While Tony sat right across from her taking a sip from his glass enjoying the fresh lemonade Pepper had made for them.
Even under the umbrella the sun managed to sneak in as it spread it's warmth upon their skin. A sigh finally escaped Pepper's lips as she leaned back in her chair. After a few moment she closed her laptop and let out a yawn.
"I'm finally done …every email has been answered and every document has been sent. " Pepper said.
"Good job honey…say I was wondering do you think I am a good lover?" Tony asked.
Tilting her head Pepper took a sip from her glass. This question was out of the blue but after giving it some thought she set down her glass.
"More like a difficult one." Pepper replied.
"Oh really." Tony said sarcastically.
"Yes really." Pepper snapped back.
"Care to elaborate?" Tony asked.
Pepper rose to her feet and took a deep breath. She hated when Tony got like this she couldn't tell if he was being playful or not. But she was indeed going to speak her mind about this and leave nothing back. She stared at Tony with a stern look that seem to shock him at first, but his face quickly returned back to normal.
"For starters you are always down in your workshop. You are either messing around with your suits or doing who knows what. I practically have to force you to eat anything. Oh and don't get me started on when you go on one of your benders. Be it alcohol or just one of your emotional outbursts I just can't tell with you some times." Pepper spouted off.
"What about you, always glued to your laptop taking it where ever you go. I even saw it in the bathroom at one time. Also could you spare a minute when I even try to talk to you . I know your busy but feeling invisible to your own girlfriend is a major downer." Tony snapped back.
A frustrated sigh escaped Pepper as she looked away and crossed her arms. Leaving Tony to slam his glass on the table and sigh. Who knew such a simple question would lead to something like this.
Standing to his feet Tony knew he needed to fix this. So taking a deep breath he placed his hands on Pepper shoulders. Only to have her shake them off. Tony then wrapped his arms around her waist and turned her to face him.
At first Pepper didn't look at him but as Tony let his fingers play with her hair; She finally gave in and looked up into his chocolate brown eyes. Soon the two of them smiled as they shared a kiss. She then laid her head on his chest while Tony gently rubbed her back.
With so much pent up anger finally coming to the surface it felt good to get it out of their systems. Perhaps that question did more good then harm after all.
" I'll work on cutting back my laptop use." Pepper said.
"…And I will work on cutting back on my workshop activities" Tony replied.
"In the end I guess we're both difficult lovers." Pepper said.
"And you know what...I wouldn't have it any other way." Tony said followed with a smile.
The two of them remained standing as the sun shined upon them both warming their hearts. For they learned that being difficult isn't a bad thing it's just a way of life.
