Turtle Princess

'Huuuuh… another day reading stories about finding true love and happy endings, but where's why true love? Where's my happy ending?' I organize the Romance books back into their rightful spots and continue down the shelves. As I put in the last book, I feel a slight tap on my shoulder and I look down from the ladder to see Finn. I loved it when Finn came to get books, although I've seen him struggle to read. Maybe I can help him some time, well; he'd have to ask me. I'll never have the courage to talk to him like some of the other princesses. He looked at me with a blank face and finally said, "Hey Turtle Princess, you think you can find me an Adventure book?" I thought for a moment to think of any books that would spark an interest to him and snapped my fingers when I finally got it. "Follow me please," I led him to the far right of the library and went up to the highest shelf, "I think you'll find this one very interesting." I handed him the old brown book. "The Adventures of Fitch and Hank." he read the title, he looked at me and a smile spread across him face, "thanks Turtle Princess." I blushed and nodded my head. He smiled at me one last time, and then went to sit down at the nearest desk. As I'm about to go back to my desk, Paper Pete hands me twenty more books to put away. I looked at Finn who was staring at the first page with his nose scrunched and focusing on trying to read the first word. I pass behind him and look to see what word he could possibly be stuck on. "Once," I smile at him, "the word is once." He looks back at the word, "Once." I set the books down besides him and pull out a chair and sit next to him. "Um, would you like me to help you read the story?" I shyly ask unsure if he would want me to even be near him. I know I'm not the prettiest princess, but I do can help you read if you need me to. He nodded his head and pointed towards the second word, "upon." I respond to his gesture.

"And they lived happily ever after." I close the book and turn to Finn. He had his head rested on his hand and was looking at me with a strange look on his face. "Jeesh, Turtle Princess," he smiled, "you sure are a good reader. Thanks for teaching me." I blushed and quickly got up to put the books away, "You're welcome Finn." I quickly start walking towards the Drama section, but Finn grabs my arm, "Sorry, but can you find you find me a book on how to read?" I giggle, "Finn, if you want to learn how to read better, you need someone to teach you. It would be pointless to make a book on how to do it if you can't read." He chuckles a bit and scratches the back of his head, "Oh yeah, hehe." I think for a second, "Well, there are videos on how to read, I can get you them." He thinks and shakes his head, "No, I rather have you teach me. I like how you teach… you make it interesting." His face turns a slight pink. Was he really blushing? "Uh… ok." I turn red myself and I set the books back down on the table and grab the top one, then open it. "Alright, let's start."

We get through all the books and I give Finn the adventure book. "You can have it, it's on me." I hand it to him and he puts it in his backpack. "Thanks Turtle Princess, I'll treasure it always." He blushes again and leans forward. I panic, but stay still. He softly pecks me on the cheek looks towards the ground. "It's been great hanging out with you, but I have to go. I'll be back tomorrow." He hugs me and then walks towards the exit. I touched my cheek and dreamily sigh, "See you tomorrow, Finn…"
