Ch. 1: Bitter Return

It was a busy day at Platform 9¾. Students walked around saying their goodbyes to parents and greeting old friends. Among them was a girl with wavy light brown hair and brown eyes. Her name was Hermione Granger; she was a sixth year Gryffindor at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Hermione made her way through the train hoping to find her friends before the train started moving. Suddenly the train lurched forward and she tripped falling into a sixth year Slytherin boy. He shoved her off of him bitterly, and made an attempt to dust off his clothes as if they were soiled.

"Well, well. Malfoy." She said standing up straight and straightening out her clothes.

"Granger. I'd recognize your voice anywhere." He hissed.

Hermione rolled her eyes and crossed her arms. Out all people, she had to run into him.

"It seems you haven't changed at all Malfoy." Hermione hissed and flicked her hair in his face as she kept on walking.

Malfoy eyed her as she walked away. When he glanced in her direction, she had disappeared in the crowd of students. He turned away and walked to his compartment with the other Slytherin students.

Before he even reached the compartment door, Pansy Parkinson had opened it for him. Malfoy knew Pansy was in love with him; however he didn't feel the same for her. He despised her. His friends Blaise and Goyle sat down with him as the train moved quickly towards Hogwarts.

As the train neared its destination, it slowed down. Hermione dressed in her robes and walked with Harry and Ron on to the platform. They walked toward the carriages. To her discomfort, they had to share a carriage with Malfoy and his lot.

As they sat down, Pansy looked at Malfoy and whispered to him indiscreetly.

"Do you smell a Mudblood?" She asked him.

Hermione held her tongue to stop herself from yelling a few choice swear words at Pansy. Malfoy didn't seem to notice Pansy's question. He was watching her, not with disgust, but with interest.

"Since when did Granger become so… hot?" Malfoy thought to himself.

Hermione noticed and glared at Malfoy bitterly.

"Take a picture Malfoy. It'll last much longer." Hermione hissed.

"Whatever Granger." Malfoy replied looking away from Hermione. The carriage wheeled its way toward the castle; however the ones riding in the carriage were silent.
