"Time waits for no man, woman, beast or child."
It was a saying, some commented, as unchangeable as time itself.
It was a saying he acknowledged, one he had always sought to live by.
Clow Reed followed rules (for the most part) and it was this one that caused him the most anguish…
He checked the time, and then departed smiling.
The witch knew she was ONE HOUR late. She was unsurprised that he wasn't there.
A familiar saying sang through her mind, he had told her before, after all…
"Ah— but you see… I don't believe in your sayings," she countered angrily, facing the empty moonlit meadow, "Besides, I am here because of your wish… we both know that ONLY I can grant it!" she was screaming now, over the howling wind blowing around her. "You—"
She stopped as she noticed that the grass in the meadow was motionless, not a single blade was moving in the gale…
She smiled and entered the glade…
"You waited," relief was visible in her eyes momentarily.
He nodded.
"For an HOUR?" she was hesitant in approaching…
Another nod, he was still smiling as she came closer. "I've paid the price, I've broke my rules."
"Then I must grant your wish, mustn't I?" She was smiling some-what forlornly as he took her in his arms…
Yuuko smiled openly into his shoulder, before pulling back to look him in the eye. He rested his hand on her cheek and pulled her into a kiss.
When they parted, she whispered sadly, "Wish granted, my love."
"No darling, it's just began," was the reply before he kissed her again.
"Yes," she agreed as they separated, "Now it's down to Hitsuzen…"
"…and us" he finished embracing her close, breathing in her scent of spices and sake.
