Summary: Yes, but was it there forever yesterday?
Notes: Totally off in my own little timeline given that I know Big Lucy and Big Mike get canned, but have no clue other than that as to plot XD (Damn, I need to start watching SPN again...)
They're passing through Kansas when they hear it. A story about two brothers who drive a big black Mustang -
- "Impala," Dean growls -
- who saved the world and chained the Devil. It's a story of nobility and sacrifice and the old man who's telling it is clearly reciting from memory, as though from a story he had heard long ago.
They ask Castiel about it later, but his answer is tied up in convoluted language that loses even Sam, something about the story always having been there even though it may not have always been there yesterday and in the end they wave him to silence and tell him to eat his burger.
"If it's always been there," Dean grumbles, "They should know it's an Impala not some wussy Mustang."
