I do not own captain jack docoter who torchwood sniff
quickie oneshot
we saw the doctor's goodbye to Rose, what about jacks?
London again. First time since the war. Captain looked up and down the street, itching to wander around, tour the nightclubs, check out the museums and laugh at their inaccuracies.
No
No, he had come here for a purpose. He had to know, he had to see it for himself, prove his heart wrong. He couldn't deny it any longer; he had to see the truth, not just another name on a computer screen. He had ploughed through the torchwood files, day and night, searching through everything, anything that might have given him a clue as to what had really happened to her, trailing through news papers, TV clips. He had even checked the buildings camera footage, but they had all been down at the time.
Looking at the skyline, he noted that he was nearly there. A shop across the road caught his eye, and he made a short detour before continuing.
An hour later, he stood before the statue, crouching down he searched through the names. Many had died that day.
And there she was. He choked back a sob, and reached out to trace her name, etched in the stone.
ROSE TYLER
She was gone.
He broke down then, realisation that he wasn't going to see her again for a long time, crashing down on him like a ton of bricks. Head in hands he sobbed uncontrollably, letting out a build up of grief, anger at lost hope of seeing her again. He howled and yelled, attracting looks from passers by, but he didn't care. Nothing else seemed to matter.
Time passed and he quietened down, spent. He crouched there for a while, just gazing at the name with red eyes, and eventually he stood up, collected the flowers he got earlier and gently laid them down on the base of the statue, six perfect red roses. He sighed.
"There'll never be another Rose so gorgeous, so smart, so brilliant as you, in all of time and space. You gave me life, again and again" he briefly laughed "I'm still not sure whether to thank you for that."
He paused and had a good long look at the statue. Recently put up, it envisaged a couple of people fighting something unseen, and around the base was inscribed: Whatever danger descends from the stars, we will fight for the future of mankind.
"I don't know how to say this but, I suppose⦠goodbye." His voice cracked and a lone tear ran down his face. Taking some deep breaths, he soldiered on.
"I will never see you again on this earth or throughout the universe. You saved this place more times than anyone can even imagine. You are truly something special, and I will never, ever forget you, even though this is goodbye. And thank you"
He dropped his head, blinking back the tears. Regaining his composure, he nodded once to the statue, and strode away, every step feeling lighter. A huge darkness lifted off him, though his expression remained serious. He was ready to face the world and all it's aliens and problems; to fight for each and every inch of it's celebrity chasing, chip eating, stupid brilliant people. And if anyone asked him why? He'd say it was for Rose. He'd would say it was for all the other people on this world, and for the future of mankind, the most amazing, stunning race he had ever encountered.
