I was inspired by the episode of Torchwood, "They Keep Killing Suzie". It hasn't really got much to do with Torchwood, but it was inspired by that delightful program so I thought it deserved a place here. You may be able to find connections. Do tell.

I Could Not Stop For Death

Memories of old
The faithful companions of ones mind
Painful yet beautiful
Enlightening but unkind

The rumble of distant thunder
A storm brewing further away
It's oncoming, not here yet
I shall arrive here some day

The drug slipping deep into rifts
Pumping through the body like a wave
A gross outlook on life my dear
Don't shed a tear, just be brave

Daggers pierce, puncture, set aflame
It is hard to draw another lasting breath
Failing, falling, crawling, bawling
But I could not stop for death.

Ripped apart the skin it did,
Burnt the flesh into the ground
Splinters flying everywhere
But he did not make a sound.

Unremarkable and so common
But feared until the death
A bit ironic one would say

That death should end death with death
