Moth to a Flame

I'm fascinated by you,
By your glow, your warmth.
You promise so much,
Would you really give it all to me?

Yes, you whisper in my ear.
You gently touch my naked skin;
We melt into each other,
And we become one

I'm like a moth
Drawn in to your flame.
Over and over, I come,
Begging for your touch.

I fly to you and you warm me;
Touch me and melt my frozen soul.
Each time I come closer,
Wanting to touch back, but afraid.

Because what happens
When the flame is too hot?
When the moth flies too close?
The moth is destroyed,
Blown away in the wind;
A puff of ashes.
