Hereditary talents At the time of war, the hardest thing for parents to do is to give up their baby in its best interest. But what happens when at eleven, the war has calmed down again and the parents are disappointed to see no scrawny, messy raven haired child with green eyes enter the hall. In fact there is no first year that resembles either parent or any member of their family tree. Will their true child stand out because of their talents?

Adoption

After Ginny Weasley became pregnant just one year after she was married there was a great debate within her family. Should she keep the baby? At the time the wizarding world was not a safe place to bring up a child, any child, especially not the heir of the man on the top of the dark lord's hit list – Harry Potter.

In a moment of panic they decided to put the child up for muggle adoption, so the child could be brought up in a world of peace, without knowing of the dangers around them. They wanted their child to have none of the memories that Harry had to grow up with of the sufferings of his parents. Nor did they want to put her child's life in danger. The child would grow up with its own adoptive family, who would really want them, take care of them and love them. The only problem in the plan was what would happen if the child was chosen to come to Hogwarts. After all, the child of one of the most powerful wizards since Merlin was almost certainly going to be magical. The child was bound to show up somewhere.

Miserably, she gave up her own blood to the adoption agency. Her husband never got to see his offspring and the two never totally got over their loss. They waited impatiently for eleven years until they hoped the child would attend school and they could watch over with pride. But how would their father know which one is his own? There are so many first years and at the time there were so many wizarding parents who gave up their child.
