Summary: what if L had a wife, a half Shinigami and pregnant wife.
She didn't wear black, just an old faded button down shirt and a pair of plain white boxers. They would say she looked a mess, she knew she did. She watched with blank eyes as the casket was lowered into the ground and covered. Her husband, the man she would never see again, and the man no one knew she was married to. No one expressed sorrow for her loss. No one at the funeral, except perhaps a young man named Raito Yagami and herself, even knew who her husband really was.
She never cried before but crystalline tears were falling down her cheeks. She laid a single red rose on the fresh earth after all had removed themselves from the unmarked gravestone.
"How could you leave me?" she asked, "I miss you presence already. L…?"She paused as if he were answering her inquiry, "Will you ever forgive me?" she rose and turned, one hand resting on her stomach, it had only been a month since she last saw him, a day since she found herself pregnant, an hour since she was told of Watari's and L's death. It all seemed trivial until now, she recognized the Shinigami, it was hard not to.
Red eyes turned to look at her, his head bowed slightly,
"-I'm sorry for your loss, truly Kage, I'm sorry-"
She nodded in thanks and with one backwards glance at the grave she left. He had saved her once when Ryuk had left her on earth. He protected her. She couldn't go to the Shinigami world, she'd been told never to come back after Ryuk left her. She was almost alone again. She walked away from the graveyard and never looked back again.
Ten years later
He'd followed his father's footsteps and became a detective. He'd solved numerous cases. He'd come to Japan to solve a serial case much like his father had done. His mother had told him about the grave before the Shinigami had taken her back to where she'd come from.
So here he stood at the unmarked gravestone under witch his father was buried, a headstone bearing the name Raito Yagami next to it.
A young blond walked over carrying a small child and she stopped in front of Raito's grave.
"Everyone dies." The boy said noting the woman's tears.
"You have the eyes don't you?" she asked looking at him
"You must be Kira's girl." he said, "Yes I have eyes that see your unnaturally short lifespan but I have no note."
The woman smiled "Don't worry I have one."
Somewhere in a place only Death Note users go, a man named Raito Yagami smirked as a woman in the Shinigami Realm grined, and a detective in the place we all go after death cried.
And thus begins Kira once again, one would suppose that even though Raito died he really did win after all L's own son became Kira's new enforcer.
