Here's a quick one-shot that smacked me upside the head at lunch today. Had to use my blackberry to type it out, so forgive anything that you might not like.

That was it.
The greatest ninja Konoha produced.
The destroyer of his clan.
The most beautiful man Sakura had ever known.
Dead. At his brother's feet.
Not from a deadly blow.
Sasuke victorious.
By his brother's sheer exhaustion.
Sasuke fell to his knees, understanding this part of his mission was over.
That his big brother loved him, and was always looking out for him.
All he could do now was.
Was.
The woman he left behind.
The woman his brother claimed.
The woman who his brother 'knocked up.'
The woman carrying the heir to the Uchiha clan.
"Protect her, Sasuke. What would have been your sister-in-law. Give her the love she finally deserves."
"From the both of us."
Sakura knelt over Itachi's body, sobbing heavily. Sasuke sat down beside her and touched her shoulder gently. "Sakura."
"I can heal him! I studied the resurrection jutsu that Chiyo-baa-sama used! He doesn't have to die!"
"Would you kill yourself and his child in doing so?"
Her desperation and tears stopped, remembering the final gift Itachi had given her. She set her hands on her stomach. Looking up at Sasuke, she whispered.
"Let's go home, Sasuke."
