Prologue

Atrus was excited. He had written a link to a world different from most others. It was a large and well populated island with other, smaller islands close by (which he had also seen.) The cities possessed buildings taller than even the D'ni structures.

As amazing as this was, the natural details of the islands were even more so, if only for sheer beauty. There was a volcano that constantly oozed lava, building up the island at one side. Exotic birds and flowers were brightly colored. The beaches were gorgeous, with pale sands and crystal clear waters. Apparently, the inhabitants of the island thought the same, because most of them were crowded.

Atrus hadn't made much contact with the people, as they tended to avoid them. He had gathered some bits of information, though. The islands' people seemed to be of several cultures. There also appeared to be a much larger body of land many miles away that they could travel to. He had also managed to find the main island's name: Hawaii.
