Hello all,

I felt this was needed. Just a quick scene between Will's little temper tantrum and the arrival of the sea monster in Depths. Enjoy!

Also, if you read Sactuary fic (which obviously you do because you are here) please check out these authors on January 21st 2012.

They are independently raising money for Amanda Tapping's charity, Sanctuary for Kids through their story reviews. Fantastic idea, right? You know you want to check it out.

And now...On with the show.

"You bastard."

It was an icy whisper that cut through him like a blade. Will hadn't meant to go that far, but once he started he couldn't stop. She'd berated him for throwing John in her face, all but ignored his mention of Griffin and Watson, but Ashley had broken her. He'd gone too far.

She pushed past him roughly, purposely brushing against the wound on his side. Helen wanted nothing more in that moment than to hurt him. She barely registered when her knees buckled, slumping her against the wall for support. The rough rock scraped against her palms and cheek, but she pushed off and kept moving forward, away from him.

She got the water before her knees finally gave out on her. He was at her side instantly, a hand firm on her shoulder supporting her from behind. "Do not touch me!" She jerked away from his hand, her head spinning.

"Magnus." Will moved his hands back to her shoulder, steading her. He was ready for her to shove him off again, what he wasn't ready for was her leg skirting out from underneath her and effectively taking out his knees. He was on his back below her, her elbow pressing painfully into his windpipe.

"Expendable." She spat his insult back to him. "You have no idea, Will. And you have no right." Tears were tugging at the corners of her eyes, but she remained firm. "Do you honestly think for a moment, that I would not give my life for any of them in a heartbeat? For you?"

Will's vision began to blur around the edges. Whether it was the resurfacing of his injuries or the pressure on his throat he couldn't tell. Either way, Magnus held firm.

"Do you think I didn't want to die after she did?" Her voice was barley a whisper but she was inches from his face; he felt her breath on his cheeks in short rasps. "Do you think I didn't try?" Hot tears fell from her face to his. "She. Was. My. Daughter." Helen, pushed one last time, pinning Will to the ground before she rolled away from him.

Will lay where she left him, gasping for breath. There was nothing he could say. 'Sorry,' wasn't an option. In truth, he wasn't sure he was entirely sorry. Helen Magnus needed a reality check, if throwing her daughter's death at her was the only way to get through, so be it. But… He wiped her tears from his cheeks then ran his hands through his hair. Too far.

She was back at the water's edge, white knuckled on the rocks. Adrenaline coursed through her veins as she visibly struggled to get herself under control. Will came up beside her. Not daring to touch her again he settled for squatting next to her.
