Daniel was relieved to see his assistant enter his office. Maybe, they both could find a solution to his blackmail problem. Betty always had an idea to help him.
But Betty was not interested in hearing him since she immediately began to give him his messages of the day without giving a chance to talk. She was shutting him out. Daniel cringed when he asked if she will not allow to give her an explanation for Friday night and she replied his cold-hearted words about her being just his assistant. How he wished he has never said the words. He remembered when he called at her home to explain himself and she refused to talk to him saying that she punched out. She went away to get him his bagel. Daniel has the very strong urge to knock his head on the desk. What did he have to be so hateful to her? She didn't deserve to be treated like that. She was just trying to help him and he pushed her away.
He decided to find her and beg for her forgiveness and explain everything to her. But he was not the only one to want to talk to her since Henry and Christina had also the same objective. Betty was looking at the three of them with a panicked expression and dropped the bagel she was carrying. She ran away under the pretext that she was ill.
The rest of the day was pure hell for Daniel. He couldn't concentrate without Betty at his side. He decided to confide in Henry. He counseled that he should talk to Alexis. But Alexis, when she learned the real reason of her brother wanting to put Petra in the cover refused to take action just saying that he should quit. Daniel realized he had no other choice but he asked Alexis that Betty could keep her job. He didn't want to be unemployed because of his stupid mistake. This time, Betty will not be here to save his neck and it was all his fault. He has destroyed his only real friendship he ever had.
But he was once again surprised to see later in the day his assistant striding determinedly towards him, grabbing him by the arm and bringing him to his office. There she apologized for shutting him out but said he has hurt her. Daniel apologized. Betty added that since she was his friend she was going to tell him if he screwed up. Daniel nodded replying that he needed her.
Once again, his friend saved him by giving him with the help of Henry the passport of Petra which stated that she was 20. Daniel very much relieved, tore down the resignation contract and smiled at his assistant. Alexis counseled her to ask for a raise. Betty looked at him with her eyebrows raised and pointing with her thumb at Alexis. Daniel silently agreed. She deserved a raise and so much more. What a wonderful woman!
