Duo sat, trying to work out what it was that kept drawing him back to the silent Wing pilot. They had fought so much, yet they always drew back together. /I won't work it out by staring at his Gundam./
"We're in trouble." That flat, slightly nasal tone made him jump. Then he realised the words. We're in trouble. /not something you want to hear Heero Yuy say./
"Why are we in trouble?"
"OZ are on to this place. We have to get out." Duo could hear it.
"But?"
"They are watching everyone who enters and leaves. We can't get out of the town."
"Correction, Heero. We will get out fine, but there is no way to sneak the Gundams past the guards."
"Aa." Duo frowned. Then he glanced at the book he was reading.
"Heero, where do you hide a red fish?"
"Hn. We don't have time for jokes Duo."
"It isn't a joke Heero. It is an old proverb. Where do you hide a red fish?"
"Where?" Heero scowled as Duo grinned.
"I'll tell you later. I just had an idea." The braided pilot ran off.
Duo came back later with an even bigger grin.
"Hey Heero, did ya miss me?"
"Hn. So that was why it was so quiet." /Of course I missed you baka. Who wouldn't?/ Duo didn't seem phased, he just kept on grinning.
"Well, you know about that parade tomorrow, through the main street? The students of all the schools have been making floats."
"So? We want to be out of town tonight."
"No we don't Heero. I just volunteered us to make a float."
"What? How do you suppose we will do that in one night?"
"Just hear me out." Heero, warily, sat back to hear what lame brained idea the braided baka had come up with. "Well, I figured, that we could make a float based on mobile suits," in spite of himself, Heero found himself drawn into Duo's idea. It was ingenious. /But still.../
"How will we make it in one night?"
"Well, we only have to make the mobile suits of cardboard, and we can beg borrow or steal that from anywhere. A couple of guys with our talents should have no trouble making some fake Leos and such." Heero nodded slowly. They went into the night to search for enough cardboard to make some mobile suits.
The parade was a big success. The most popular float was the one of the Leos and Aries fighting a couple of Gundams.
"So realistic!" was one comment. The others were much the same. But when the organisers tried to find the MS float, it was nowhere to be found.
"So?"
"So what, Heero?"
"So where do you hide a red fish?"
"In a pool full of red fish of course!"

Dumb huh? That damn question was floating around my head all day. Now I might have gotten it out of my system, and I can work on Feanor, DragonLance, Adam and Eve, Living Crystal... make that all my stories. R+r desperately wanted!
