Chapter 1

It was another bright, sunny morning at Torrington Academy. The sunlight filtered through a window, shining on an auburn haired teenaged girl, who was sitting in her room, reading a classic novel with small print and which looked really difficult. She sighed in contentment, " Ah, peace and quiet, just what I need to read this really great book!" As she turned a page, the door burst open and a tall blond boy sporting a red and yellow shirt came raring into the room.

"Hey Di, watcha doing?" he shouted. Diana looked up, startled. A second later, she was on her feet, her hands on her hips. "Martin Mystery! What do you think you're doing, disturbing the serenity and tranquility of my room?!" she yelled. "Gee, sorry Di. Didn't mean to disturb ya," he said, shrugging.

His watch let out a beeping sound. "The Centre!" he cried. "And it's coming from over there." He pointed at the wardrobe door. "Hey, where's Java?" he asked. "He's got a flu, so he can't come with us today, "replied his stepsister. They climbed into the closet and into the Centre, shutting the door behind them.

A scanner rose up. "Martin Mystery, cleared." "Diana Lombard cleared." As they neared the lift, a voice called," Hey guys!" "Hey Billy!" they greeted their friend enthusiastically. "Better hurry up, MOM's really busy today. They stepped into the lift and entered MOM's office.

A glaring light blinded them. "Yeow!" yelped Martin, taking a step back. The light faded, to reveal MOM, who was sitting at her desk, clutching a laser rod and standing over a metallic object. "Hey MOM, watcha doing?" he asked, stepping forwards. "I am attempting to prise apart this object that the Center's agents just discovered, buried at the site of a meteor crater. It is believed to have originated from extra-terrestrials from outer space." She held up a curious, metallic object. "Cool! Can I try too?" Martin asked hopefully. "No, Martin. This object is very valuable and I will not let it be destroyed by you," said MOM firmly. He looked disappointed. She looked around. "Where's Java?"" He's got a flu," said Diana. MOM sighed, and shuffled some papers. "Today you'll be investigating a series of break-ins and thefts that have occurred at a remote region in Africa. Our source in Africa has indicated a high level of paranormal activity there. Find out why these break-ins are occurring and stop them. You will be going under cover as tourists. Billy will show you the way." As they stepped through the doorway, MOM called to them, " And since Java isn't here with you today, you will be working with Marvin for this case. He's already waiting for you at the village."
