Unable to Look Forward
Prologue - Shadows in the Darkness
A/N: I do not own Tales of the Abyss.
I do however own the OC mentioned below and all other associating OCs.
WARNING: Story contains murder, depression, death, suicide, torture, and an aggravating OC, you've been warned.
I finally decided to go back and rewrite this story, AGAIN but this time I'm keeping the plot the same, but altering how I word it. This is a rewrite of the prologue I will be posting this in it's place, and not removing the story completely from the internet. I hope you enjoy this, I tried to detail my OC more because I realized one of my main issues is that I don't explain what's going on, or who the main characters are enough.
Well, anyway, enjoy the story, and please review, all comments, be it praise or criticism, help me become a better writer!
It was during the dead of night, in a small farming village that she knew to be her home, that a young woman, shaken with fear and soaked in blood, stood in her living room, quickly darting around, collecting supplies. She had wide, violet eyes and her hair was white, but ratted and messy with panic and her own slim, clutching fingers.
She didn't have a lot of time, the sun would be rising in just a couple of hours and everyone in this town were well known for waking up at the crack of dawn to tend to their crops and animals. "I have to go, now." She breathed to herself, her voice deeper than most women were capable of but not as deep as the farm girls within this village.
With a quick motion, she took her passport and the large black cloak her mother used during nightly sword practice, and slipped it on, covering her pale face with its shadowed hood before she took her massive, Mythril Sword which rested by the front door. The reasons behind her rapid movement and panicked thoughts being that she had sinned in the worst way, and had no choice but to run.
If she paid the price, she would not live to her next birthday.
Swallowing that knowledge in fear, she carefully and quietly opened the back window of the house, which lead out into the dark, monster-filled fields, she peeked back towards her parents' bedroom, making sure none of them had awoken at the sound. When she was certain she was safe, she hopped onto the sill and took a deep breath.
Little did she know, running from her terrible mistake would cause her more pain in the future, more suffering, and even more punishment. However...
The nervous young woman jumped from the sill and rushed off into the darkness, only looking back when she had long since faded from the view of the small community.
...She was trapped in her guilt, her grief, her cruelty...Unable to do anything but run...And unable to look forward...
