Giving Thanks
By: KellyCRocker59
I wrote this little fanfic in celebration of Thanksgiving.
The cool winds of fall swept through the camp as the day of Thanksgiving arrived. The army had gathered for a feast around a large fire; all except for one. Saleh sat in his tent pouring over a tome. He didn't care much for large gatherings, and this was no exception. However, he turned as the tent flap opened.
Gerik, the hero that he shared his tent with, smiled at the man as he walked in, two plates of meat, potatoes and two cups of water balanced on them. He sat down beside the sage, setting the plates in front of them.
"Gerik, what are you doing? Don't you want to be at the feast?" Saleh asked as Gerik handed him his plate.
The hero shook his head.
"I couldn't leave you in here beside yourself, could I?"
"Well, thank you." Saleh said.
Gerik nodded, and they ate in silence. When they finished, Gerik laid back and put his hands behind his head.
"So, what are you thankful for?" Gerik asked.
"I'm thankful that the Goddess has treated me so well, and that she has given me so much." Saleh replied.
Gerik smiled.
"I'm thankful for being able to love someone." He said, sitting up.
Saleh just looked down as Gerik smiled at him, and then the hero set his hand over Saleh's that laid in his lap, grasping it gently yet firmly and pulling it into his own lap. The sage blushed and slowly scooted closer to the larger man until their shoulders touched. Gerik turned and gripped Saleh's chin, turning it with his callused fingers toward him.
The hero leaned forward and gently pressed his lips to the sage's, and Saleh blushed even redder. It was a soft, quiet kiss; no tongues, no desperation; only gentle, raw passion. They parted, and Gerik pulled Saleh into his lap, the sage settling in the other man's arms. They had much to give thanks for.
Happy Thanksgiving 2007!
