AN: This is a reward fic for YourFavoritePlushie since she was the 50th reviewer on my fic Indelible Sin. She requested the first kiss of Riza and Roy, before flame alchemy and before Ishbal. Here it is.
Their First Kiss
When Roy arrived at the Hawkeye house, the first thing Hawkeye Sensei told him was to keep his hands off his daughter. Roy agreed whole heartily. Besides Riza was far from the type of girls the young man liked. Besides, that blasted high school uniform she wore, with that long ugly platted skirt and that ugly shirt, was enough to turn any guy away.
Then they started talking to one another. It started with good morning then with a slightly longer conversation at breakfast then at lunch, then a long conversation at dinner. Hawkeye sensei rarely ate with the two of them, preferring to eat alone in his study.
When he left town he and Riza talked much more openly. She'd bring him a snack while he studied the stuff Hawkeye left for him. He'd help her with shopping and help her wash the dinner plates after they were finished eating. This continued until Hawkeye returned. Then it was back to the occasional word or phrase. This soon turned into occasional touches when he wasn't around.
By the time that he left again, they began to talk even more openly. He began to tell her about his past and he found out about her life before he arrived. They would often sit, next to each other on the couch in front of the fire and Riza read while Roy studied. Both were startled to learn that they were more comfortable there than they'd ever been.
The next day Roy helped Riza got shopping and they were returning home. They saw that the door to the study that leads outside was open. That meant the he was now home.
"Guess father is home," Riza said.
"Yeah," he replied.
She started to walk toward the house but he stopped her.
"There's something I have to do. I think we are out of sight from here," he said.
"What is it?" she questioned.
He took the bag in his arms and sat them down on the ground, then did the same to the bags that she was carrying. She looked at him quizzically and was surprised when he cupped her cheek with his right hand and kissed her softly. He pulled away and smiled at her. He started to remove his hand but she grabbed it and pressed her lips to his lightly. He pulled her close to his body and deepened the kiss. She wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him back the best she could. She'd never been kissed before, but it looked like her love of romance books came in handy.
Little did they know that Riza's father could see everything from his window. He'd seen them coming up the road and saw them stop. He then grabbed his spyglasses and looked through them to see them kissing. He put them down and smiled slightly. The boy completely disregarded what he said but then when he saw Riza kiss him back he knew that he was the one. For both flame alchemy and something else that would happen much later on in the future.
He picked up an old photo of his wife and touched her face gently. "He's the one all right," he whispered. He sat it back down and went to ready a pile of work for Roy. He would never know why he was being given so much extra work but it would give Hawkeye the inner satisfaction of punishing him for touching his daughter.
