Flying, Arriving, and Being Otherwise Shocked
Kazul flew high and fast with Shiara on her back. Shiara looked over her shoulder at Daystar and the quickly disappearing castle. A slight tear of fire trickled down her face. Sure she WANTED to go live with Kazul, but the only person who'd ever been nice or tried to help her were back at that castle. She'd miss everyone, even the King and the Queen whom she'd just recently met. She shook herself a little. This was silly, she was a 'princess' now, according to Kazul, and must behave, at least somewhat, properly. Crying on her first day would seem like she was a baby.
Kazul's low, gentle voice surprised her,"Shiara, nobody will think badly if you are sorry to leave friends. Never be ashamed of shedding tears." Shiara wiped her face with her hand and smiled a teary smile. "Thank you Ka-Majesty. I'll remember that." Shiara wondered if dragons could read her mind. Kazuls chuckle interrupted her thoughts though,"Shiara, you must do me a favor." "Anything!"Shiara replied fervently, clutching Nightwitch, her kitten, to her chest. "Never again call me Majesty." "Yes Ma-Kazul," Shiara said. Though she couldn't see it Kazul was smiling.
Nightwitch hmmrowred, letting her know that she approved. Shiara laughed, "Yes, I agree!" "You understand the kitten?" She asked. "Well, sort of. I mean, Nightwitch is one of Morwens..." "Yes that would explain it wouldn't it?" Kazul said, in more of a statement then a question so Shiara felt she didn't have to answer. This whole polite thing was WAY not fun! She'd actually have to be polite.
She frowned, not liking this restriction on her powers, though at least they could now be somewhat more predictable. Her thoughts were once again interrupted as Kazul winged down, into the enormous caves of the King of the Dragons. They were rather over whelming.
Shiara quickly dismounted and said,"THIS is where you live?" "Hmm? Oh, yes. I hope you like them. There are the caves in which Cimerone stayed in that might be satisfactory? Would you like me to show you around?" "Yes. Please." The please was added as an afterthought. Kazul nodded, smiled, an walked, expecting Shiara to follow.
Shiara walked quickly after.
Kazul showed her the treasure rooms, the libraries, the kitchen, and all the other rooms. Finally they ended up in the rooms Kazul announced she was to have. She quickly prowled like a cat through them. They were neat and orderly, with all the comforts she might want and need. She nodded,"They're quite nice Kazul, thank you."
"I have yet to show you one more thing," Kazul said. Shiara couldn't help but thinking, Now what?
They wandered into a room right off hers. A dark purple velvet curtain was pulled across the door, wide enough for two or three dragons to fit in. Shiara entered and gasped. There, shimmering on the wall with a very human seat, was a mirror. And not any mirror, but one of Telemains, one of his MAGIC mirrors. "Yes, he rigged it for me for when Cimorene came to visit so she could talk to Mendanbar." Obviously this was before Medanbar had been trapped in his castle. "You may use it when you wish to call your family, the castle, anyone." Kazul said, looking rather smug with herself. "Thank you Kazul, it means a lot to me!" Shiara said, choking with emotion. She tossed her firey red hair over her shoulders and blinked, to keep from crying. This was not her day, crying twice in one day?
She sat down and Nightwitch leaped into her lap. She strocked the kitten as it sat on her lap. Shiara heard a swooshing as Kazul left. She smiled happily and began the first incantation, of the first call she had ever made on a magic mirror.
