"You didn't tell us we'd be staying in a castle!" Nell exclaimed from the back seat of the car.

Mr. Crain smiled. "It's not exactly a castle,"

"It's a mansion," Theo corrected.

"But it looks like a castle!" Nell turned to her brother Luke, who nodded his head in agreement.

"It does look like a castle," Luke said, "But without the water around the front and the bridge,"

"That's okay," Nell said to Luke. "It's nicer to have a driveway than an old bridge anyways,"

"Do you think there's a dungeon?" Luke asked warily, the conversation now solely between the twins as the car pulled into the driveway of Hill House.

Nell thought about the question for a moment. "Maybe," she said. "But if this is a castle, then that means I'm a princess and you're a prince, so we don't have to go into the dungeon if we don't want to," This idea made Luke visibly relax.

Nell turned to look back out the window. Maybe to the older kids and adults it was a house, but to her it was the biggest building she'd ever seen. And with big buildings naturally came big adventures.
