Diary of Tyara Laedros

Lieutenant 2nd Class on the SSV Alesia

First Entry

My old team had an unspoken rule: every time you get a new assignment, start a new diary. Every closed book is the beginning of a new one, and nothing we've done or shall do will ever fall into the obscurity.

So I closed my very first book yesterday, after 46 years with the Asari Commandos of Thessia. That was a very large book, a lot of files, stories and deleted information that I lacked the authorization to reveal. Nevertheless, that book is behind me, and these lines mark the beginning of the next.

My name is Tyara Laedros. An Asari, born and raised on Illium to a now-deceased Turian father, Galrius Laedros. My mother, alhough she has done nothing to earn that title but give birth to me, is Limesla D'Naza. My brother (half-brother, to be exact), is Visius Laedros. I am a 146-years old Maiden, and now a former Asari Huntress.

If I am to die in action, these diaries should be given to my brother, and to the Asari Huntress Prima Vasia, my friend and my very dear commando sister.

I learned one week ago that my name was picked out to serve on a Human ship for a new Council initiative. After the Citadel was attacked by the Rogue Spectre, Saren, a few months ago, and was saved along with the Council by a human hero, they have decided to try something new - a multi-species crew!

It seems that this man, Shepard, got himself an amazing team that included turian, asari, even krogan and quarian members! When I first read the reports, after we got back from assignment, I thought it was incredible. But if it actually inspired the Council to try something similar, then it is an even greater achievement, although I do not expect to find any Krogans on board…

Anyway, I don't know why they picked me, I don't even know how they got my name (maybe thanks to Matriach Helilias ?) but I was so excited that jumped all over my place.

I talked about it with Prima on the next day, as I was reluctant to leave her behind, but she pushed me forward. She always did. I know she'll be fine with the team, and that she will move on when she feels like it, but I can't say that I won't miss her.

We spent the few next days before my departure drinking at the Starbar, on Thessia, any time we got the chance. I was so impatient to work with Humans, and Salarians, I did as much research as I could. Prima was often watching me from behind, glass in her hand and a smile on her face. It lasted barely two weeks, but it was some of the best rest I had in years. A new horizon awaited, and I could not wait to go and explore everything it had to offer.

I don't have many information on this assignment, to be honest. I know our missions should be focuses on exploration and study, more than ground intervention, but that's mostly it. I have also been granted a human rank ! I'm now a Marine, Lieutenant second class ! I am informed that this is the lowest rank among officers, but it means that I'm an officer at least, which sounds like a promotion after the commandos!

I'm now on the Citadel, ready to start. Tomorrow will be my first day, and I want to show the best of me. After all, my whole (former) team are counting on me to show everyone what the Huntresses are made of.

Lieutenant 2nd Class, Tyara Laedros, sign out.
