Emma was just enjoying a walk in the woods behind her house, like she often did on nice summer days like this one. Her feet were just plodding along one of the usual paths she takes- a simple, not very straight dirt path. Some of them appeared to have been made by ATVs (evidenced by 2 tire tracks), and others had just been walked many times. Emma paused from her daydreaming to check which one her current path was, and to her shock, the path wasn't a dirt path at all! It appeared to be paved with some type of yellow stone. As she looked around, she saw a sight she'd never seen before in her woods- the trees were far more scattered, with no undergrowth. This didn't fit at all, because by her house the woods were so dense, with so much undergrowth that she had to carry her small puppy. Since she had no idea how to get home, Emma chose to walk along the path. It was straight, and she figured that since it was neatly paved, there was likely to be civilization nearby. Among the trees there were what appeared to be red and yellow foxes, and large birds, with wide, thin wings, colored red and yellow. The birds reminded her of phoenixes. Eventually, Emma came to a fork in the road. The left side lead to an odd, burnt streak on the land, and the right side to an enormous building. She chose to try the building; upon entering, Emma discovered that it was a city, filled with what appeared to be elves.

Millennia have gone by since the elves set sail into the West. Hobbits have become sparse, and hide from humans whenever they come near. Ents have become utterly tree-like; dwarves have died out (the few remaining breeding with humans, causing what we now call midgets to exist); the few orcs remaining after Sauron's fall were hunted off by humans. This left humans in control of Earth (no longer middle-earth after all the fantastical races, creatures, and magic left). However, descents of Aragorn and Arwen (the last elf in middle-earth, who eventually died in battle) still existed. Two, to be specific. Due to all Elven blood needing to move on from Earth, or some amazing feat of chance (that is up to debate), all that remained of the descendants was an adolescent boy who lived with his grandmother, both of them with no idea of their ancestry.
