Theodora had searched everywhere for the wizard; all over Emerald City. She had asked every Winkie and even the city herald, Knuck, where he was. She felt worrid. Where was Oz?
She suddenly got an idea. Evanora had taken him on a tour of his new kingdom last night. She would probably know where he was!
She rushed to Evanora's tower, hurridly and burst into the room her guards informed Theodora that she was in.
"Evanora!" she cried, "I can't find the wizard anywhere! I-"
She stopped abruptly. Evanora was looking pale, hovering over her Seeing Orb (A/N: I'm sorry! I don't know what that's called. I didn't exactly memorize this conversation either so cut me some slack!).
"What is it?" Theodora asked, rushing over to the orb. In in was an image of a man- Oz with... Glinda! The Wicked Witch! Calm down, she thought, he could be deceiving her.
"So the prophecy," she says to her sister, "It's coming true."
"It appears so," she replied, though not looking convinced. Evanora strode to a nearby table and picked up a music box. Wait! Was that her music box?
"Where did you get that?" Theodora choked out.
"It was a gift," said her sister, smiling wistfully, "From him."
A lump formed in Theodora's throat. It was an exact replica of the music box Oz had given her. That night they had danced.
Evanora opened the box and the magical music started to pour out of it.
"He came into my bedchambers last night," she continued, "Oh how we danced. I can can still feel his body, pressed against mine."
The music started to have more of a sickly sweet tone as Theodora finally put together all the pieces. Oz had cheated on her with her own sister. He had played the same cards on Evanora as he did on her and had taken off on his quest to fulfill the prophecy without even telling her.
Her emotions must have shown on her face, because Evanora turned and let out a gasp.
"Not you, too, sister!"
"He said I would be his queen," she said in a thin voice, barely audible, "That we would rule Oz together."
Evanora took her hands in a comforting way and then whispered in her ear.
"Are you quite sure, that it wasn't you who said that to him?"
Theodora stepped back, horrified at her sister's words. She tried to say something back, but her words caught in her throat. Evanora's face was full of false sympathy and Theodora suddenly couldn't take it any more. She fled, tearing through the tower to her own room.
She felt such pain in her heart that Oz- who she had thought was such a great wizard- had betrayed her like that.
She sat down in her stool that stood before her vanity. She looked through the mirror and saw a broken girl before her.
This brought tears-yes tears- to Theodora's eyes, which slid down her face, cutting into her cheeks like a knife blade. She cried in agony as the pain was inflicted on her.
She looked in the mirror which held that horrible image and growled, "Serves you right!"
Theodora smashed the mirror into pieces.
Now it's broken, she thought, Like my heart.
