His arm embraced his ex-wife's back as they walked to the elevator. Kate felt a huge pain invade her heart, but what to do? Call him? Tell him that she had an epiphany that afternoon and suddenly realized he was the one for her?
"What to do?" she asked herself.
Her voice came out of nowhere, and he looked back.
"See you in the Fall?" That was the question.
He smiled his crooked smile and simply answered "See you in the Fall."
That was it. Tears almost rolled down her cheek, but it would be too humiliating to cry in front of her co-workers. She wanted to go home, to sleep and never wake up again. Three months. It wasn't a big deal. All she had to do was focus on her work. At least she knew he would be back for her after the Summer. But before heading back to her desk, three words interrupted that creepy silence.
"What to do?"
