My shortest oneshot yet. I'm setting a personal record here...

I just feel that there are things that should be explained, and the fandom has taken a lot of liberties with one of our favorite kitsune.

I don't own YYH...just a lot of free time to think about it.

Contrary to popular belief, I am only one person.

A single soul in one body.

Youko Kurama is Minamino Shuichi is Kurama. Different names, one soul. End of story.

I feel the need to clarify, because there are many who don't quite understand how I ended up this way.

I did not, as popular belief would suggest, possess an unborn human's body in order to survive my escape from one of Reikai's hunters. That would suggest that I was sharing a body with someone else, an alternate identity with multiple personalities. It would be too complex, too confusing, and simply goes against my better judgment to allow someone else to control my actions part-time. That would be idiotic.

I did not merge my soul with a human's. Not only would I have had an extremely conflicting source of power, reiki and youki, but I would have added all sorts of abnormalities to my personality…defects that would affect my judgment, reaction time, and anything I'd learned over my extremely long lifespan.

I did not shape shift to a human form. Frankly, it wasn't even an option at the time, my youki being as weak as it was.

What I did do was move into an empty vessel of a child meant to be still-born.

The child I became, Minamino Shuichi, was a carefully acted part. I was Youko in a soft and vulnerable human shell. Used to greater power, an adult body, and a great many things I had no access to as a human child.

Any changes in my personality can be accounted for through my extreme lifestyle change.

Besides, one doesn't stop learning just because one grows older.

Some notes:

-Shiori obviously has some serious medical issues. It isn't unthinkable that the child she was carrying would be still born, and that plays a major part of what causes me to believe that's what happened.

-I know that in the Tournament with the first appearance of Youko, he refers to Shuichi as a different person from himself, but think about it...Potion of Past Life, anyone? Youko wasn't Shuichi yet at that point. His personality hadn't undergone anything major just yet, so he practically is a different person.

Possibly more coming with this fic. I don't feel like I've gone deep enough into my explanation...I've got a couple more ideas on why he seems so different as Shuichi and Youko, but is still very much the same soul, citing the Tournament as example. I just have a few things to hammer out in the process.

And for those of you waiting on Good Omens (you know who you are), I'm playing with what direction I want to take that in too. I promise I'm not going to leave it all at introductions, but I need some time to visualize where its going, exactly. Better slow to update with a good chapter than update fast with a load of crap, right? (though in my case, I might be slow to update and still give you a load of crap. Minimum Wage Mission is a perfect example of slow and sloppy.)

Review, please. They make me happy and send me to typing. I want constructive criticism in there too, folks. What can I do to make this better?? I won't know until you tell me.
