Harry groaned as a pillow was smacked into his face.
"Really, Ginny? I thought you got over this faze once the kids were born."
"Oh shut it, and you need to get up. Everyone's going to be here in a little." Harry sighed and slipped out of bed and threw some clean clothes on. "Good now go wake the Albus up; he'll be in a mood if I do it."
"That's because you smack pillows into people's faces and scream at them to get up." Harry grinned and kissed her quickly before bounding up the stairs to get Albus before she could retaliate.
"When's James getting here?" Albus yawned, slipping out bed and stretching.
"Supposedly around the same time as everyone else but I guess that depends on the kind of night he had." Harry grinned at his son and threw a shirt at him. "Your mother will scream for twenty minutes if you come downstairs without a shirt." Albus nodded and yawned again before walking into his bathroom and starting the shower.
"Alright then, mate?" Harry called as he came down the stairs and heard Ron and Hermione bickering by the front door.
"I'm going to cook today Harry!" Ron said, sounding disgruntled as he followed Hermione into the kitchen dumping a couple bags of food onto the table. Hermione just glared and elbowed him in the ribs. "Ow! Sorry, I mean I'm volunteering to cook so that you and Ginny don't have to." He grumbled before reaching into the bag and grabbing a piece of food to snack on and smiling at his friend who grinned back.
"How generous of you Ronnykins."
"Shut it, Potter." Ron chucked the remaining piece of celery at Harry's head who ducked and laughed before giving Hermione a hug and patting Ron on the back.
An hour later they were all sat outside on the patio and amusedly watching Ron attempt to use a grill while the kids played by the water.
"What the bloody hell does this thing do?" Ron grunted at one of the knobs and Hermione shook her head before coming over to help.
"Dad!" James yelled from down by the pond, Harry grabbed his drink and made his way down the backyard.
"What is it James?" Suddenly Lily came running out from behind a tree carrying a little black shaggy puppy.
"Can we keep him, please, please pleeeease can we keep him?" Lily hopped up and down giving her dad the best puppy-dog face she could.
"That face stopped working on me when you turned 12 Lily." She sighed and rolled her eyes while her brothers laughed and her father grinned.
"What shall we name him?" Albus asked getting up from his place on the grass and standing next to his little sister, knowing his dad had already caved.
"I quite like padfoot," Lily ventured and glanced at her dad whose face had softened. Harry walked over to his daughter and ran his hand through the dog's fur.
"Padfoot sounds good." He said softly before smiling at his kids, kissing the dog on the head and walking back up to check on Ron.
"Hey dad! We found a rat by the house; can Rose and I keep it?" Hugo yelled, running up to beg his parents once again.
"NO!" Ron and Hermione both yelled at once.
"Sheesh, alright calm down. It's not like I asked if I could date Scorpius Malfoy." Hugo rolled his eyes and trekked back down the hill, no one paying attention to the way Albus blushed before jumping back in the water to hide his embarrassment.
A/N
I was going through some Sirius withdrawal and thought this would be a cute little peek into the Next Generation. I am writing more stories with this generation currently so some of them should be posted relatively soon (hopefully). Reviews are always welcome. :)
One kind-of important note in this story- Lily is 15, Albus is 17 and James is 18; which is why James no longer lives at home.
