Tears Are To Cry For

this is a songfic about Craig Manning and Ashley Kerwin when they are in their freshman year of college. Ashley is away, and Craig misses her dearly. The song is Quarter To Three by SleaterKinney.

Craig sat in his dorm room on his bed, looking at the pictures of him and Ashley on his nightstand right next to his glowing red lava lamp. She was away in London visiting family, and he missed her so much that it hurt to see their pictures. He looked at his alarm clock-1 AM. She promised to call everyday until she got back, but she had left a week before and only 4 calls from her.

Its 1 am

you haven't called

it must be 4

where-ever you are

and the photo booth strip

and the letter you wrote

feel like nothing

I can hold

He thought. He had known Ashley for what seemed to be forever. He loved her dearly, no matter how many times he had messed up. He would never let her go, because she was the one for him.

There's nothing bad

nothing free

nothing left

for me to feel

it's like

going to bed at a quarter to three

finally tired

finally empty

Craig had barely been sleeping since the night Ashley left. He wasn't studying, he was barely eating, and all he could think about was the day she'd get home. She had origionally planned on coming back on the 7th, and then it was changed to the 31st. It was the 10th. 21 more days until she'd get home. She had a lame excuse too-her mother wanted to stay longer. Who's side was she on? She was an adult-she could make her own decisions.

Should I be up

to play the game

back and forth

back at me

and my confidence fell

I feel so mad

tell me who's side

are you on?

There's nothing bad

nothing free

nothing left

for me to feel

it's like

going to pieces could fix everything

cuz at this point Im really me

Craig decided that Ashley would never be home. Ever. That she had left, and all he would do is wait for her pathetically.

That was the end of Craig as we knew him.

There's nothing bad

nothing free

nothing left

for me to feel

it's like

going to bed at a quarter to three

finally tired

finally empty

finally tired

finally empty.
