Ghost of You and Me
Alexander sat at the table staring blankly at the headline of the Evening Prophet. [Rose? My Rose? The love of my life? Can't be. No way. She can't be dead.] With that thought, he promptly scribbled a note, and then he promptly went up to the roof to reflect.
What am I supposed
to do
With all these blues
Haunting me everywhere
No matter what I do
[How'd it come to this? What made me fall in love? What could make a Hufflepuff, especially Rosalyn, go so bad? Better yet, how can she be dead?]
Watching the candle
flicker out
In the evening glow
I can't let go
When will the night be over
Alexander reflects back to the day he transferred from the Niagara Falls School Of Witchcraft and Wizardry in Canada and USA. He was sorted as a Ravenclaw in his 4th year. He noticed Lily and James (not knowing who they were then) at the Gryffindor table. He looked over to the Slytherin table and saw them jeering at him. He ignored it.
I didn't mean to
fall in love with you
And baby there's a name
For what you put me through
It isn't love, it's heartbreaking
I'm sleeping with the ghost of you and me
And then he looked over to the Hufflepuff table and saw the woman he knew he'd love for the rest of his life. He saw her and felt that he would give up his soul to have her, like he would toss himself in front of a Manticore if it was trying to get her. He didn't know what this emotion was at the time but it hit him hard.
Seen a lot of
broken hearts
Go sailing by
Phantom ships lost at sea
And one of them is mine
[Can I really live without her? Good ole Falcore helped me out the first time. He stayed in touch after I left America. He even ended up transferring in his seventh year. He got to see my show…]
Raising my glass
I sing a toast to the midnight sky
I wonder why
The stars don't seem to guide me
Alexander then remembers serenading Rosalyn through a letter the first time. He smiled to himself as she opened it and appeared pleased at first, then his face fell as she tore it up destroying the spell.
I didn't mean to
fall in love with you
And baby there's a name
For what you put me through
It isn't love, it's heartbreaking
I'm sleeping with the ghost of you and me
[I still wonder what went wrong with that one. Well, I made up for it…]
The ghost of you
and me
When will it set me free
I hear the voices call
Following footsteps down the hall
Trying to save what's left
Of my heart and soul
Alexander then remembers all of the other serenades and flowers (roses) and jewelry. He sighs remembering her falling in love with him. Then he remembers the café and steps up to the edge.
Watching the candle
flicker out
In the evening glow
I can't let go
When will the night be over
Alexander steps up to the edge as the breeze blows his shoulder length hair. [I guess I can't live without her.] "Goodbye my Rose. Goodbye Falcore. Goodbye cruel world." Then he takes the step over the edge.
I didn't mean to
fall in love with you
And baby there's a word
For what I'm going through
It isn't love, it's wearying
I'm sleeping with the ghost of you and me
