this love will ruin us
lilyroxanne
Lily drags her cousin down empty halls, into broom closets and runs bubblegum pink fingernails up her thighs, bringing her mouth down on Roxanne's before the dark-haired girl can protest.
Her lips don't taste like strawberries or vanilla as Roxanne once imagined they would, no, they taste like whiskey and cigarettes and reckless youth, and Roxanne clings to them like they're oxygen and she doesn't know how to live without them. The oh-so-familiar slope of Lily's nose as it brushes against Roxanne's cheek screams that this isn't right, that she shouldn't know what Lily tastes like or how many freckles there are on her nose, but Roxanne's always had a warped moral compass and Lily's always been one for blurring the lines between wrong and right.
Warm lips move against her ear and Roxanne can't tell what they're saying but Lily's voice is soft and low, and Roxanne's nodding as she tangles her hands in long flaming red hair.
Lily's a bad habit that Roxanne doesn't know how to break and she isn't sure she wants to anyway.
Her 'I love yous' sound like 'I'm lonely and you're here' and the smell of cologne lingers on her skin, and really, it's only so long before she finds someone new to kiss in dark corners and abandoned classrooms. She's drifting away and Roxanne doesn't know if she can really get her back for good, but it's hard for her to care when Lily's teeth are sinking into her neck and Lily's hands are tracing patterns along the planes of Roxanne's stomach.
They're leaning against the castle wall, pressed together in a failed attempt to ward off the cold, lit cigarettes held between their fingertips and as she watches Lily talk about how one day they're going to get out of here and never look back, she decides that one day Lily's going to ruin her.
Lily takes a drag of her cigarette and turns so that she's pressed against Roxanne, burying her face into the side of the smaller girl's neck, her free hand twirling a piece of dark hair into a knot.
Roxanne smiles and for the first time it occurs to her that maybe she's not the only one who'll get ruined by the end of this.
