Disclaimer: I don't own Fire Emblem, otherwise, I would be too rich to write fan fiction.
--A Very Short But Hopefully Entertaining Story, In Which A Devoted And Pious Young Monk Meets A General On The Battlefield--
The explosive sounds of fire and thunder echoed along with the clash of iron and steel. A young monk runs through the battlefield. His only concern is his holy Mission. He has defeated many enemies of his Mission today, and has a great deal of confidence in his ability to cleanse evildoers from the face of the earth. This is not out of pride in himself, but out of purity of heart and faith. He is strong today, this he knows.
The enemy is weak. Even though he is no strategist, he senses that the enemy is holding back. He has not seen any of the higher-ranking enemy soldiers so far. Then, he finally sees him. The enemy leader, a general, who, clad in gigantic armor, shakes the earth with his every step. He wields an axe as tall as the monk himself. But the monk has no fear.
He steps forth to engage the general. The monk is much faster, and wounds the armored man significantly before he has a chance to counter. However, the monk does not see the general tense his muscles, and he lets loose an unstoppable barrage with his axe. The giant slab of iron embeds itself in the monk's body, as the axe is wider, longer, and taller than he is. He bleeds profusely, and the green grass around him turns the deep color of the sanguine liquid.
But the monk does not die. No, indeed, he survives and looses another volley of holy magic. The general is felled. The enemy retreats. As the monk dresses his wounds back at camp at the end of the battle, he finds it difficult to keep his body from splitting into two pieces, but other than that, he feels fine. It was better, he thought to himself, than the time when he had been skewered by a lance from the same type of general.
However, even as he thought it, his body fell apart, and the two halves of his broken self simultaneously cursed under their breaths.
"Bugger."
-FIN-
Hope you liked it, maybe thought it was a little bit funny and ironic. I think it is interesting when Nils gets hit by a ballista too. Never seems right to me.
