Hello everyone ! It has been a very long time since I've published a story, but this one is quite special to me.
I haven't written in English for a very long time too, so sorry about the mistakes.
I hope you will enjoy, it's in two parts. I do not own the characters.
Enjoy !
It had been a few days since everyone on the ship had woken up from cryosleep. Life was slowly coming back, friends found each other again, as if it was only the day before they had said goodbye. But it had been 125 years, and even if nothing had change, everything had change.
They only had a few hours left before landing and they were gathering in the cafeteria for breakfast. Most of them were still asleep, as it was early in the morning.
Clarke hadn't slept the night before, between Madi's nightmares and her owns she couldn't keep her eyes closed. She was already at the table with her mother and Niylah when Bellamy, Echo and Indra joined them.
Madi was sitting under the table, for her morning meditation, holding a piece of paper in her hands, humming softly.
« Hey, is she okay ? » asked Bellamy pointing to the girl
« Perfectly fine. » smiled Clarke « Morning routine. »
« Good morning everyone. » said Indra and they nodded « So today is the day… »
« A big day. » added Echo « But let's not start a war today, okay ? »
Bellamy laughed and kissed his girlfriend on the cheeks. « I will do my best. »
« Abby ? »
The older woman lifted her head from her unappetizing plate of oatmeal and looked at Indra.
« Did he woke up ? »
« Twice, but he wasn't himself… »
« He just needs time. » smiled Indra « He is a strong man, he will be fine. »
« What if he can't walk or talk ? »
« We will do our best to help him then. » said Niylah
« I did this to him… »
« Mom. » said Clarke, taking her mother's hand « Please, stop. It's not your fault. »
Abby sighed and took her plate, she got up and kissed her daughter's forehead.
« I will be at the medical center if you need me. »
« I love you mom. »
« I love you too. » she answered before leaving the room
They stayed quiet for a moment, eating their oatmeal and looking at each other. They were anxious but still couldn't wait to discover the planet Monty had found for them.
« We land in 8 hours. » announced Bellamy « I think we should gather everyone here and talk to them. »
« You and Clarke should do it. » said Octavia
« Actually, I think Heda should talk. »
They all looked at Indra and shook their heads. She was the Commander, yes, their Commander, but she was young and even if most of them knew that everyone would listen to her, they didn't want to impose that to the girl. Niylah was the first to speak.
« I don't think that's a good idea. She is still a kid. »
Hearing her name made her quit her session of meditation and she sighed and crawled out of under the table.
« She's Heda.» growled Indra, getting up from her chair « I only obey to Heda. »
« Shof op Indra. » Madi lifted her hand and motioned to her General to sit back down.
Octavia tried not to laugh, but she looked at her brother's face and let out a giggle.
« Em pleni » added the girl, her voice was raspy, harsh
The meditation helped her a lot, but she still had a lot to learn. Lexa's voice was the only one she could hear clearly and she knew that she needed to control the spirits more.
« I have to talk to Gaia. The Commander is mad. Really mad. »
« Which one ? » asked Clarke, a soft smile on her lips, not expecting what was about to happen
« The only one that matters to you, mom. »
Madi left and Clarke felt like the floor was shaking. Madi had never called her « mom » before. Tears were rushing to her eyes, and she had to bite her tongue hard not to cry.
« Are you okay ? » asked Niylah
Clarke didn't answer and got up ready to run after Madi, but Indra took her hand.
« Let her go. The voices can be strong sometimes, she needs to deal with it herself. »
« No… »
« Clarke, trust me, she can handle it. She is strong. »
« She's 12 Indra, she is strong, but she wasn't trained to be Heda. Not like Lexa, and you know it. »
« Still, you raised her good Wanheda. » said Indra, pulling Clarke into a hug « You raised her to be our leader. »
Madi pushed the door of the medical center, knowing that she would find Gaia there. Her Fleimkepa had spent every day here since they had woken up, sometimes helping Abby and Jackson, other times reading to Marcus, but most of the time meditating.
She walked to one of the rooms and smiled seeing Gaia sitting on a bed, meditating. It was a small room, with a bed in the middle, and a chair in a corner.
« Heda. » said Indra's daughter « I was waiting for you. »
« Were you really ? »
« Have a seat, Heda. »
Madi sat at the end of the bed, and couldn't stop looking at her feet.
« What brings you to me ? »
« The Commander…Lexa, I can feel her pain. »
« The Commander does not feel pain, Madi. »
« I swear to you it is possible, she is in pain. »
« How so ? »
« I saw Clarke and Niylah kiss yesterday. » explained Madi « So I went to Niylah's room and I…found that hidden in a book. »
She took a piece of paper out of her pocket and opened it. It was one of Clarke's drawing. The drawing she made of Lexa a few weeks before her death.
« Heda. » whispered Gaia « Where does this come from ? »
« I don't know, but it's special, Lexa says it's from before her death. »
« How is she ? »
« She is sad and furious at the same time, she says she needs to talk to Clarke, that there is thing she never told her and it's burning inside of her. »
« It is not possible Madi, I wish it was but… » Gaia stopped and growled « Wait. »
She left the room and came back a moment later with her mother. « There is a way Madi, but you need to be hypnotized. »
« Do it. »
Gaia knocked softly on Clarke's door, she didn't want to scare her. The young Fleimkepa had an idea and was eager to make it work. The door opened and Clarke smiled at the girl.
« Is Madi okay ? »
« She is, yes. The Commander requested your presence. »
« The Commander ? »
« Lexa. She wants to talk to you. I'm going to invoque her spirit through Madi's body. »
Clarke took a few steps back to let herself fall on the bed, allowing Gaia to enter the room.
« Hello Niylah. » said Gaia, seeing the woman sitting on a chair « I am happy to find you here, I have a question for you. »
Niylah stayed quiet, her eyes still on Clarke. Gaia took the paper Madi had brought to her earlier out of her pocket and showed it to the woman.
« Where did you find this ? » asked Clarke jolting from the bed and running to take the paper « I thought I'd lost it… »
« You should ask your friend. » answered Gaia, pointing at Niylah
« I took it from your room when I had to left Arkadia for the bunker, I wanted to keep it safe for you. »
Clarke looked at her drawing, Lexa, her friend, mentor, and lover. The woman she wished she had never lost. She smiled and thanked Niylah before closing her eyes to remember that day. It felt so far away and yet so close, she remembered the candles, Lexa lying on the couch. How easy it was to draw her perfect face. Her eyes, closed, her lips.
« Oh, that makes sense... » whispered Gaia, before walking toward Clarke « Come with me, Madi is waiting. »
