Inspired by the lyric I'll Never Love Again from the song Speechless by Lady Gaga.

It was a little romantic. The thought that Gene Hunt, the Manc Lion, the boorish, sarcastic, arrogant, pigheaded DCI that she had served under for three years, was the last man she would ever love. As long as she was without him she wouldn't be half the woman she used to be. There was something a little sadistic about the fact that she would have to wait years before she was allowed to act on her feelings again, it chilled her to the bone as well as reigniting the flame that had been turned down low as not to burn her too much when she thought about him. No, he was never going to come into The Railway Arms, was he? That concluded it then, she would never love again.
