Prologue:
Their feet scurried across the ground as they hurried. They were a pair, although one was much, much older than the other, they both gave off a strange aurora as they did. One figure if you looked close enough, was a woman, glasses on her small face as she lifted her head to look at her companion and then down to her arms, which held a small bundle.
"Are you sure this is what's best for them?" she asked, her shrill voice breaking the silence in the dimly lit street.
The other companion was a male and although he looked much older than the female, he's personality could be about as young as hers and with her question he sighed, although the stiffness in it was unmistakeable, as if she had asked the question a million times and he still wasn't sure of the answer.
"I'm positive." He murmured before grabbing the bundle into his arms and knocking on the door.
Once and then twice.
And then, they were gone almost as fast as they came and the door opened to only see a small baby girl on the doorstep.
The woman gasped as she reached a hand up to her mouth.
"David – come here! Quickly!" she called out before quickly picking up the child and placing the girl into her arms.
The man didn't cease to come quickly – although seemed disturbed as he watched the woman and the child.
"I thought they would at least show their face if they want us to take care of her. But I guess they're too busy." His voice said out and although no fierce or tension hung in his voice, he still moved his wife and the child inside the house.
"It might seem safe – but it's not. Not until he's stopped, that is."
"And this girl?" his wife murmured as she glanced back up at her husband.
He went quiet, "She will never know of her origins besides that she was our child and that will be the story – if she ever finds out the truth then her life will be endangered – forever."
