The song this is written for is Lullaby for a Stormy Night. I adore this song. It's so sweet it makes me wanna cry every time I hear it.
Crack.
L winced. He liked to make people think he was strong, and held no emotion, let alone fear.
BOOM.
But this was not the case. L, the world's greatest detective,-
CRACK.
-was deathly afraid of storms.
BOOM
A single, frightened tear fell down the detectives face as he hid under his desk, all alone.
CRACK
…Or so he thought.
BOOM
For, while L sat and cried and wished the storm away, the door opened to reveal none other than Light Yagami.
Crack.
Taking one look at the elder detective's face, Light ran over and crouched down before him.
"Are you okay?"
"Im fi-"
BOOM
The detective winced and broke off as a particularly loud clap of thunder shook the room.
Light quickly realized what was going on. "Afraid of thunder?"
"S-Storms." L corrected.
CRACK.
Light sighed and wrapped his arms protectively around L, bracing himself for the protest that was sure to come.
BOOM
But L simply whimpered and allowed the comfort.
CRACK
Light thought back to his mother, and how whenever he or his sister were scared in a storm, she would always sing the same song…
"Little child, be not afraid. The rain pounds harsh against the glass, like an unwanted stranger,"
Light began to sing quietly.
"There is no danger, I am here tonight."
BOOM
L winced, but not quite as badly as before Light had come, as he looked up to Light who was still singing.
"Little child, Be not afraid, Though thunder explodes, And lightning flash, Illuminates your tearstained face, I am here tonight."
CRACK
"And someday you'll know
That nature is so
This same rain that draws you near me
Falls on rivers and land
And forests and sand

BOOM

Light smiled. "The rain will be gone in the morning…"
L, losing his battle for consciousness, fell asleep at last. Light looked down at the sleeping boy with compassion, before finishing the song in a gentle whisper.
"But I'll still be here in the morning…"
How was that? Characters may be a little OOC, but… I like it. I almost cried writing it. I was gonna make L sing with him, but…
