Let me spell it out for you: I own snap diddly. Thank Chapter 74 of the manga for this shameless blink-and-you-miss-the-obligiatory-Royai-moment crackbunny. I expect that you're smart enough to figure out the code.
"You look happy." Roy smiled as he saw the woman approach the coffeepot. There were some benefits to retrieving his own cup of joe. "Hot date last night?"
"It went all right," she replied mildly, watching as Roy tried to rein in his emotions. He had expected better than "all right," but there was no telling who might be listening in, after all...
"So what's got you excited, Lieutenant Hawkeye?" Roy asked as she poured enough for all the top generals in Central and then fixed one of her own, tapping in two lumps of sugar and just a hint of cream.
"Ida told me that the hunt for Marcoh has moved southeast, closer to Ishval," Riza said, taking a sip of her coffee.
"Should we be worried?" Roy asked, jotting a stray note in the corner of a napkin.
Riza focused on the tray, arranging and rearranging the drinks for the high command as she spoke, keeping her eyes averted. "Only if it gets close to Pinako Rockbell's place. The Elric brothers and Garfiel would never forgive us if she got pulled into this mess. Nancy said that Alphonse has seemed a little unstable of late, and Nancy's always been my best source for northern gossip, save for Ted, of course."
"There are enough of our friends already in trouble," Roy agreed, stretching for her hand. Riza slid it out of reach before he could touch her. She picked her mug back up and tapped it as if to resettle the sugar. Roy looked at his napkin again, wondering if he might have missed a name. "Riza…"
"I need to get back to work, sir," she said, picking up the tray and heading back to the Fuhrer's office. Roy stared into his cup, wondering if Bradley had secretly switched the regular with decaf. No, more likely it was a quadruple espresso. That would explain why his heart was suddenly pounding so fast. Roy crumpled the napkin and shoved it into his pocket with his pen. He should burn it as soon as possible, but he was not ready to let go of it without further invesigation.
