Set pre-graduation. Buffy knows not of her sister. Her mother doesn't know she's the slayer. She's never met Riley. Angel and Cordiela still haven't left. Faith is on the run. And Wesley is technically Buffy's watcher. She knows Johnathan, but not Warren and Andrew. Willow is still with Oz. And Anya is just there.

I do not own Buffy the Vampire Slayer, nor do I won Alice In Wonderland. I do not attempt to profit from these stories. They are only products of my bored imagination.

Chapter 1
Welcome To The Hellmouth

"...leaders, and had been of late much accustomed to usurpation and conquest. Edwin and Morcar, the earls of Mercia and Northumbria declared for him, and even Stigand... Buffy!"

Buffy turned her head to her mother. "Hmm...? Oh, I',m listening."

Joyce continued reading while Buffy played with Mr. Gordo. She didn't realize her mother was staring at her with disbelief until she yelled.

"Buffy! Will you please pay attention to your history lesson?"

"I'm sorry." Buffy whined. "But how am I supposed to pay attention when there's no pictures."

"There are a lot of great books Buffy Anne with out pictures."

"In this world perhaps." Buffy whispered. "But I bet you in the Hellmouth demons' books all have pictures."

"What was that?" Joyce asked.

"Oh nothing." Buffy slid down her bed. If she had to stay home sick, she was going to do it lying down.

Some time in between History and English Buffy took a break and went for a walk. Per her mothers orders to get fresh air.

Buffy was kicking a stone in the park when she saw what looked like Jonathan Levinson in a rabbit costume run into a cave.

"Oh man I'm late!" Jonathan yelled as he dashed into the cave. "She's not going to be happy!"

"What is he up to now?" Buffy asked her self as she followed him into the cave.

She followed the sound of what seemed to be hopping and Jonathan crying for what felt like an hour. But in true retrospect was only 15 minutes.

When the hopping and the crying stopped she thought she lost him. But when she slipped over the edge of the hole in front of her. She cursed at her self.

Great a trap. Good going Buffy.

But when she finally landed it was on a pile of pillows.

What in the hell?

That's when she saw Johnathan disappear behind a door.

"I must be seeing things. Because there's no way he fit through there."

"Oh but he did."

"Who said that?" Buffy spun around to see a short blond haired man standing next to the only thing in the room other than the pillows and the door. A table.

"My name is Riley." He introduced him self. "I'm the door man."

"So Riley." Buffy Began. "How is it that Jonathan went through that door?" she pointed to the very tiny door on the wall behind him.

"The box."

Buffy was confused. What box? There's no box in this room.

As if reading her mind Riley pointed to the table. Upon which now stood a box.

Buffy walked back over to the table cautiously.

O.K.

"Open it." Riley instructed her.

She did as she was told and opened the box.

But there was nothing inside.

"Yea! It's an empty box." Buffy looked back down at Riley.

But realized that she was now looking at his feet.

"Well?!" Buffy was shocked. "What happened?"

"You shrank." Riley chuckled. "What do you think happened?"

"Well, I can plainly see that." Buffy scoffed. "Butt how?"

Riley looked at Buffy with disbelief. "Buffy, come on you live on the Hellmouth. Haven't you learned that it really doesn't matter how. But why?"

Buffy contemplated this for a minute. Then was shocked again.

"Wait! How did you know my name?"

"I'm the door man to the Hellmouth. It's my job to know the names of every one who enters and leaves."

And with that Riley stepped aside and let Buffy through.
