Eddie Janko sat staring at the pregnancy test in her hands. It was positive. One drunken night with her partner was going to change their lives forever. They had been avoiding their feelings for one another for years and now they couldn't do that anymore. She was oddly happy about that even though it meant that they could no longer be partnered together on the job. She picked up her phone and texted him and asked if he could come over, so they could talk in person. He of course agreed still clueless to the fact that he was going to be a dad. Half an hour later Jamie knocked on the door and then let himself in. He looked around until he found her still sitting on the tub with the test in her hands. She looked up to him and smiled softly.
"Is that what I think it is Eddie?" He asked as he knelt in front of her. She nodded.
"And is it positive?" She nodded and showed him the plus sign.
"We're having a baby. And I don't want to avoid our feeling anymore. I want us to be together, if that's what you want." She smiled and looked at him and he kissed her deeply.
"Of course, that's what I want Eddie. It has always been what I want. We can even go tell Sarge right now if you want." She nodded and stood up.
"Let's go before he leaves the precinct for the night." She said as she took his hand and grabbed her purse and keys.
They made their way down to his car and he opened the door for her and helped her in the car. Once he shut the door he made his way around to the driver's side and got in before they buckled up and he drove to the precinct. When they arrived, they went in and straight to Renzulli's office. They knocked on the open door and he invited them in. Jamie shut the door behind him and they sat down.
"Sarge, we need you to separate us. We had one drunken night, Eddie's pregnant, and we have decided to pursue a relationship." Jamie stated skipping to the point. Renzulli nodded and smiled.
"First of all, finally you two stopped being hard-headed and stubborn. Second, congratulations and third by the time you come in tomorrow I will have you two separated and Janko, having you considered when you are going to start desk duty?"
"I will let you know after I have my first doctor's appointment. Thanks, Sarge. We would like to tell the Reagans, so can you try and keep this between us right now?" He nodded.
"Of course." He smiled as they stood up and left his office.
"Do you want to go ahead and go tell your dad and grandpa before we go back to wherever babe?" She asked as they got back into the car and he nodded.
"That's a great idea love." He smiled and made his way to his dad's house. When they pulled up the looked at each other to make sure this is what they both wanted. They nodded and got out before going up to the front door and Jamie used his key to let them in.
"Dad, pop? Where are you?" He called out and took her hand. He knew she was freaking out on the inside whilst staying completely calm on the outside.
"In the kitchen." Henry called out and they made their way to the kitchen.
"Hey. Can we talk to you guys for a minute?" He asked as they looked up to the two holding hands. Frank nodded.
"I think that might be necessary." He stated.
"Eddie and I just spoke to Renzulli and as of tomorrow morning we will no longer be partners. There a drunken night a few weeks ago that led to Eddie being pregnant. Which Sarge also knows and we are starting a relationship." Jamie finished and looked to them smiling.
"First of all, congratulations, we're happy for you both. Second, I am glad you two handled this the way you did." Frank said with a smile.
"Thanks dad. We have been avoiding this for a while, but we don't want to anymore." Jamie smiled and looked to Eddie who was smiling right back at him.
"Welcome to the family, Eddie. I hope you will join us for Sunday dinner." Henry said smiling and she nodded.
"I would love to." She replied and relaxed a little. Jamie smiled as he realized she was beginning to become more comfortable around them.
Jamie looked over at her and knew she was falling asleep on her feet. He put a hand on her back and they said their goodbyes and he helped her out to the car. As soon as she got in she was out like a light. He smiled and buckled her in then got in and drove them back to her place. He had a gym bag with clothes in it, so he'd have something to sleep in. When they got there he grabbed his bag, her purse and then carried her out and to the elevator. He found her keys in her purse, unlocked the door and let them in. He carried her to the bedroom and laid her down. He went back to lock the door, put her purse beside the bed and dropped his gym bag before changing into his spare clothes and climbing in next to her. He took her shoes off and tucked them in under the blankets. He wrapped her in his arms and fell asleep almost instantly. They remained in each other's arms all night and when Jamie woke up he noticed she was gone and then heard her getting sick in the bathroom. He got up and went to her. He held her hair back and rubbed her back.
"You didn't have to get out of bed babe." She said quietly.
"Maybe so. But I wanted to Edit Marie." He said using her real name in a loving manner.
"That's how you're playing it Jameson Patrick?" She grinned. He laughed, and she turned back and got sick into the toilet again. He grabbed a nearby hair tie and put it in her hair securely then went to get her a glass of water. By the time he returned, she was rinsing her face off and washing her hands. He extended the glass out to her and she gratefully accepted it.
"Thank you, baby." Eddie smiled, and they got showered and after Eddie had her uniform on they made their way to Jamie's place, so he could put his on. They then made their way to the precinct. When they arrived, they went straight to Renzulli's office and he smiled.
"Come in you two, shut the door." They did as he said and sat down.
"I talked to the bosses, including the commissioner, and they reviewed the books. There is no official rule against you two staying together and they don't want to lose statistics like you two have. So, they have agreed to allow you both to ride together. However, when Janko goes on desk duty later in her pregnancy, you will be with her three to four days a week and the other days you will be riding with me. Sound good to you?" They nodded slightly in shock that they could stay together.
"You got it Sarge." Jamie replied. They stood up and made their way to the roll-call room and waited for Sarge and everyone else to make their way in for the briefing. One of Eddie's best friends, Kara Walsh walked in and sat down next to them.
"Hey, what's up with you two being so quiet this morning?" She asked, and Eddie grinned.
"Just basking in the feeling of a new relationship." Jamie replied.
"Fucking finally." Kara squealed out.
"I'm also pregnant. But that part stays between us for now. Until the rest of the Reagans find out at Sunday dinner tomorrow. Also, yes, we have told Sarge, but he and a bunch of higher ups found that there's no official rule against us still being partners, so they want us to ride together unless it becomes a problem then we'll be immediately separated." Eddie added. Kara nodded and hugged them.
"Congratulations." She smiled, and they stood up and made their way to their places in the roll-call formation.
