As it turns out, dragon-roasted goat was actually quite tasty. The bottled drink I'd grabbed had turned out to be a self-boiling tea. A detail I would have been happier remembering before I'd taken a drink seconds after opening it, and burning my lips as a result. Normally I'd have used a spell to heal myself, but I was little more than a muggle now, and wandless.
It was supposed to be my 5th Year at Hogwarts, but in less than two weeks I'd found myself chased out by an invisible attacker clear across Europe. All because Headmistress McGonagall's wand had fallen from the sky.
My journey was aided by one of my oldest friends, the Antipodean Opaleye dragon who'd been a faithful friend to me since my first year. She'd flown me to my hometown where I was attacked again. This time I was disarmed and the resulting carnage had roasted my wand in the fire.
Timothy, my red squirrel had shown me a new path North to Greenland. He thought I should go North. But I was uncertain.
Thinking for a moment, I knocked back the last of my tea. Wand or not, I was still a Wizard. And it you didn't need a wand to know your own future.
You just needed tea.
Peering into the cup I searched for shapes.
The first thing I saw was a skull. It seemed that danger was following me no matter where I went these days.
Looking closely, I was sure I saw birds, not just one, but a whole flock of them, clustered together. One was bigger, closer. Deadly enemies, closer than I thought.
Along the side of the cup was what looked like a tree, but there was a circle around it, looking almost like the sun. Did this mean I would find the tree Timothy had shown me on my map? Did I dare hope I'd find great happiness there?
A last clinging of leaves to the tree looked like a club. Another attack. If I found what I was looking for up North, I'll be attacked, but happy about it?
What kind of nonsense was this?
I'd spent too much time here. My Opaleye was dozing after her large meal. Tea leaves or no, I wasn't going to run from this any longer. I trusted Timothy, he wouldn't lead me into danger.
After all, he looked so cute in his shiney silver armor.
