I was feeling tense. Waiting for my Antipodean Opaleye dragon to finish her nap after such a large meal was eating away at my nerves.

Exile from Hogwarts was bad enough, but being pursued by an enemy who can just be invisible was nerve-wracking to say the least. I had no doubts they couldn't find me here in the Balkan Mountains, but the time to get moving was close at hand.

I no longer had a wand though. Mine had been set aflame, the cost of my freedom from my attacker the previous morning in my home town of Normandy. We'd been flying eastward since.

A wizard without a wand was an anxious one indeed. So it was time to relax. If my dragon could find the time to sleep, then I suppose I could, too.

Opening up my enchanted side-satchel bag, I climbed down the ladder into the Undetectable Extension Charmed bag. The charm had been lifted from a crate my potions ingredients had been stowed into during my first ever trip to Diagon Alley, and copied to make the bag. Inside was the equivalent of a small apartment, complete with bed, potions lab, and fire crab cave.

Timothy, my red squirrel was sound asleep on a bookshelf along with the stick he'd absconded with from the nearby copse of silvery trees. Even magical pets need memorabilia, it seems.

Smiling at my cute little friend, sleeping in full medieval armor, I walked past him to my potions ingredients cabinets. Near the bottom was a pink-capped plant with green leaves and stem in a jar labeled, "Valerian." It was not the easiest plant to find, but our Care of Magical Creatures Professor, Rubeus Hagrid kept a growing in his garden and had invited me to take whatever I needed.

I was never greedy, I only took a few. Opening up the jar, I snapped off a root, then sealed it back up.

The root was used in the Draught of Peace, as well as the Draught of the Living Death. It's raw extract were both medicinal, and a sedative.

Normally I would have just drank a Draught of Peace, but my stores were now limited without a wand, and I didn't know when life or death would demand one on hand.

Sighing slightly, I bit into the root and swallowed. Climbing the ladder I felt the effects rather quickly. Climbing out of the bag, I sealed it up and slung it over my shoulder. Pretty much everything I had left in the world was in that bag. I couldn't risk losing it.

Cuddling up to the side of my Opaleye companion, I finished off the root, and fell into a fitful sleep.
